I would expect compacted mud on the front side of the peg due to the force from the guy.

Rob, ours did us proud in a windy Wales last week.....didn`t have them on the canopy, and all the guys pulled loose during the night, tent was fine with the deltas....may need to order some more....
I'm sure they are Safeway56. I wouldn't want to put them in my dishwasher (with the mud and bacteria) but considering the heat and pressure that creates them, a dishwasher is fine.

Thanks Jo, were you just using standard pegs on the canopy or something more substantial?

just back from surviving a wild night in betwys coed. Met office said wind was gusting at 30mph. Took my extension down before i turned in 4 the night as the wind started gusting straight down the entrance. A couple with a baby pitched up next to me in what looked like a little tesco tent. They set up at 6pm and packed up and left again at midnight. Got drowned packing up this morning, got home half way through pitching again to dry it out and the heavens opened meaning 2 soakings in one day!
Think our winds were close to 30mph gusts at times. Even though our Khyam stood up to them it just wasn't fun sitting inside fretting, and it was almost impossible to talk or listen to the radio, so going home was the right option.
Now just have to finish drying tents, in the living room!

It was a new purchase so just those awful wire things that came with it...didn`t have time to order anything else... We were on a AWP so had rock pegs for the tent too...and the odd one in the canopy.
I think the met office said we were expecting 28mph gusts last week, the site, being a valley, had a wind tunnel effect tho`
Thanks Jo, can you send me your address again so I can send a couple of samples for hard-standings or AWP's?
