Hi we bought our tent this year and have used it 4 times ,on the fourth time it started leaking in the bedroom ,to my amazement there was a hole in the roof ?? no idea how it got there ,so i have used a repair patch that came with the tent ,i was just wondering how good these patches are will it last as long as the tent are will i have to keep repairing the hole . PS do birds land on tents ?thats the only explanation i have
How big is the hole? Could it have been caused by a pole being threaded too enthusiastically? Could a fellow camper have fired a missile in your general direction (champagne cork, cricket ball, conker)?
If you have no luck with the repair patch try tenacious tape which you can get in some camping shops and on ebay. It is clear, thin and ultra sticky tape, a bit like a dleicate looking see-through duct tape.

The seagulls where we stayed last week made a habit of perching on top of the tents (usually when the occupants were out) and also on people's cars!
here's one I caught in the act.
We had a small hole in the roof of our tent - we used the strips that you can buy and so far no leaks and we have had some rain! What I had though was that either an insect had its last meal when the tent when it was packed away or one of the poles had rubbed against the tent while being packed/transported. We will never know!
Thanks for the replies ,i wouldn't mind but the tent cost £300 new this year and now it comes with a sun roof :)i still think it was birds ,there was a lot of crows around
It sounds like a bit of bad luck, but nothing drastic, contiue to enjoy it. We've just had a new kitchen fitted and the OH decided to slice something up on the worktop with a very sharp knife - not a good look now but it will still work.
