Would this be excessive?

I am nearing the end of a 2 year spending splurge which will be finalised by my hartford canopy and the alabama day tent.

However I have just done of calculations.  In truth the hartford is something like 8 m by 6m (including guys).  I am about to add to this with a 3m x 3m canopy and I have the day tent which will be around 3m by 3m.

So with some rough calculations to put the tent on straight you would need a pitch which is around 15m long by around 9m wide!  However, we would have the absolutely brilliant set up.

Do you think we will get this on pitches in france or should i leave the canopy?

I know I should be able to get on my favorite uk sites, but the overseas will be a new experience for us....

Also do you know any sites that would allow us to pitch that big (we are looking for some long weekend sites also especially in Norfolk, lakes, peak, and north wales).

All help muchly appreciated!

John

Hi John,
We had really good size pitches in France. You don't spend much time inside (can't during the day - it's too hot)and so a smaller tent with a shaded outside area is probably your best bet!

the day tent is for breakfast and cooking, the canopy is for when it rains as its probably north france we will be going too, and i am just a space whore!

Also the set up is for the uk as well - last year we were stuck in a small tent - nothing worse than been stuck in a tent with no windows and no space!

John, it won't be a problem in France as long as you are not talking about the med. I have the same set up as you and if when booking mention that you want a "grand emplacement" you should not have a problem. (You can just make out the cooking tent behind)

I have used this set up in Normandy, The Dordogne and The Vendee and still had loads of space on the pitch.

The pitch we had in The Dordogne (Bel Ombrage) was big enough for us also to pitch our overnight tent (vango oregon tbs 600)on so we could move our stuff over on the last night so we could take the hartford down in the dry.

This is a photo from Normandy this year
