We are undecided between 2 campsites for (either Ullverston & Sedburgh) this weekend and so have been looking at the Met office weather to help us decide.. Just wondered what you think are the most important signs to look for in a weather report e.g. Wind Speed, Visibility, rainfall etc.. The Met office has a key which shows either sunshine (yey!) white clouds, grey clouds drops of rain to show expected rainfall etc... Not very helpful so wondered if anyone uses others sites to make a decision and what is the most important signs to look out for?….We have in the past ignored severe weather warnings and suffered the consequences!
windspeed map I have always found this site to be very accurate . Metcheck varies wildly by the hour in its forecasts, and I have found that totally unreliable.

Thank you for that, don't really mind most weather, but wind is so destructive.
I found this good too, tells you what the windspeeds mean .
5 or more is not ideal for camping, as the gusts are usually much stronger especially if on exposed coastal sites.
In my experience the weather report bears no resemblance to the actual weather on the day in question. I checked everyday the week before we went camping, it said sun and cloud and in actual fact it rained and nearly took the tent out with the wind.
Another time it said rain... we gunned it and went anyway and it was glorius sun shine all day with just a light shower in the morning.

Ha the weather reports are my thing as i carnt work in rain even if its rained and stopped i have to wait about 20 mins. if its to windy i carnt work. if its to hot i carnt work.
so i check every weather report on the net... then choose the one that looks best and hope there the ones who got it rite,
most of the time the weather reports are wrong and uncertain.so basically not worth paying atttention to,just remeber were in the uk so wind and rain is 99% likly
