Hi Everyone,

It is a long time since I have posted on this forum. We used to have a Coleman 10-man tent, then a Cabannon trailer tent and then a Bailey caravan.

However we realised that what we were missing was the back to basics approach that started it all off. When we were caravanning we ended up taking so much equipment that it was like being at home, and the whole idea was to get away from it all, without TV etc...

We have bought a 'HI-Gear Gobi 4-man tent' and went away last weekend. No TV, no hook-up, no fridge....just a single gas ring. Enough to boil a kettle and make a Sunday morning bacon sandwich. Can't wait to go again

John

Hello and welcome to the other side. Nice when you can just chuck the tent in and go.

Sounds like heaven i do intend in taking EHU for beds and light but several years ago we used to have a caravan and tv games console etc went, then kids were reluctant to come out and about just like being at sodding home. So looking forward to basics in wales next week.

I have gone back to basics too. Can chuck it all in the boot and go, set up on site in half an hour and back down again in about the same. We take everything basic for two adults and two teens in the boot of a Laguna.

I do have EHU on occasion but just for a light and a little fan heater.Getting old you see.

It's great to see others getting such joy from basic camping-Doesn't it feel good to actually be away from everything at home?!17

It's great, we do take a pack of cards but we rarely use them, we always seem to be too busy chatting all evening. Mind you, to cut down on space I don't take a washing up bowl, I use a deep 3L empty ice cream tub, gets some giggles at the washing up place.17
