I would wait til tomorrow morning before deciding to call it off. The weather does have a habit of changing and how gutted would you be if you decided not to go today and it turned out to be glorious sunshine and no wind!!

That said, the only thing that would stop me is rain. Rain is just too depressing to even contemplate especially when trying to pitch!!

I'm the opposite and only high winds would stop me from going-the thought of my tent being totally destroyed, getting no sleep from worrying about if the tent is going to rip to pieces or fly away is a horrible thought. I am myself debating about whether we should cancel our 5 day trip starting tomorrow, oh I don't know! I would say we are leaning more toward's cancelling than going if I am honest though.

Wew were suppose to be camping with friends this weekend as well. Was to be an opportunity to use the new EHU, the new tent awning, that arrived yesterday, and just have a fun weekend with friends. The weather is going to be wet, cold and windy! So we asked our two boys what they wanted to do and they voted for a stay at home, but to go to the local carnival and maybe go surfing on the Sunday. At least we can come home to a warm dry house for a bath to warm up after.

I will be the first to admit, I am a fair weather camper, and HATE camping in the wind and rain. I hate having to put the tent away soggy, then worry about when and where we will get the chance to dry it!

I don't mind the cold, as long as I have EHU and can use our fan heater, but wet and windy (aka baby weather!), nah!

(Yep, I'm a wimp! Hee hee!)

This weekend is to be our first camping trip17

Scared now that the grounds will be swimming pools where we pitch. Then the tent will have bits missing/broken. Then it'll pour down and penetrate the tent!

That's if it hasn't all been blown away just getting it out of the bag!!

So looking forward to it though, so we will still be going!!

Lol....I'm a 'glass half full' gal really! <{;0)x

Oh my - now I'm worried.  We're off to Pentewan Sands in Cornwall on Sat for a week - and we've got a front row pitch on the beach!!  Never pitched in high winds before, but can't cancel as we've paid up front and my parents are staying in a static too.  At least we have a back up plan if the tent blows away and can kip in with them.  Ha ha!!  Any tips on pitching right on the beach if it's blowing a gale?

I would defo go as if you wait for nice weather in the UK you wouldnt go anywhere. I have had 2 tent wrecked in storms in the past so you have to be careful. (i learnt the hard way). You have an Outwell i see so you should be fine. Just pitch somewhere near trees or a building to give you some protection from the wind. Park your car into the wind in front of your tent which will minimise any damage from wind.

Have a nice trip!!!!!

Thanks for the tips!  I think finding any shelter will be tricky though as site is VERY exposed and we have a front row pitch - so anything blowing off from the sea is gonna hit us head on.  We'll see what it's like when we arrive.  May have to pitch back to the sea - which will be a shame as I quite fancied opening the door in the morning to the sight of the waves!!  Never mind, best do whatever we can to make the tent - and us - safe.
