Hi. I have a vango orchy 600. This weekend am staying 6 nights in New Forest, then going straight to IOW for 5 nights. As the Orchy has a sewn in groundsheet, i would value advice on how to pack it if its wet, as i will need to use it that same night on IOW, how do i keep the bed bit dry?

 I usually use an old tea towel or dishcloth with a small bowl of water to wipe the worst of the wet and muck of the groundsheet.(depends how much it's leathering it down though)

Layer black bin bags on the wet and mucky bit of the groundsheet to stop it coming into contact with the flysheet. Roll the whole lot up in a wheely bin liner rather than trying to get a wet tent in a bin liner, it seems to be havin a laff when you try. Tie it up with the tent ties or a spare guy if you've lost them.

I just looked at the pitching video for the Orchy and it quite clearly shows the bedroom pod being toggled in seperately. You should take this out before you drop the tent then as has been said, fold so that dry goes to dry and wet to wet. When you get to the new site, put the Outer up, open all the doors and vents and let a bit of air blow through it for half an hour or so before rehanging the bedroom pod.

The bedroom pod is toggled separatley above the groundsheet. However, the groundsheet of bedpod is sewn into groundsheet of main tent. When you untoggle, the bedpod is placed on the groundsheet that is attached to the whole tent, including the flysheet. Not sure if this makes sense. Hence my problem.

It's an all in one pitch jobbie, I would untoggle the sleeping pod and drop it onto the living room sig then cover the pod fabric with  a load of bin bags to keep the fly form wetting it the best you can. Bit of an awkward design really. Try and leave the doors open as soon as you can and if you have EHU, I  would put a fan heater on and dry it out as much as I could with some ventilation. It will dry out quicker than you think. I'll be doing me joo joo beads for dry weather for you.

Aha, I finally got that bit. Sorry. What a daft design...it must make the tent really difficult to dry out under any circumstances. I wonder what Vango thought the advantage of that was?

I would suggest nipping down to B&Q and getting one of these cheap thin plastic builders dustsheets, to put over the pod once you've dropped it. Similar to using a dry pack sheet in a folding camper.
