He he that made me laugh coz I'm like that too, the kids call my handbag the tardis. It's really not all that big but I have loads of dinky pockets with everything from spare salt sachets to plasters and nail files in. My OH thinks I should have been a secret agent.LOL.

Hello. We are also thinking of going away in October. It would be great to squeeze one last trip in before the end of the year. We just started camping in June and we became hooked overnight!! We live in Scotland so the dark nights are a bit off puting. I suppose as long as you are organised with things to do in the evenings and have plenty cozy clothes then it should be great.... Oh and dont forget to check the weather forcast before you go too.
Tigerfeet - try Lee Valley campsite - tube and bus handy for central London. London is never really as cold as elsewhere so you should be fine there in October, plus they have great warm shower blocks just like a bathroom in a hotel!
I camped late in October last year and then started again in Feb - nylon tent and no EHU BUT must have a campfire!!
------------- 2011-
Dec/Jan -Cornwall nr Padstow (cottage)
Feb - our garden (tent)
March - Llangollen (cottage)
March -Town Farm, Bucks.
April - garden..again..need to get out more...
May - Acoustic Festival of Britain Uttoxeter
Latest I ever camped was mid-November but I was only one using a tent. No electrics or heater so relied on thermal ski underwear, ski hat worn all night and a quality sleeping bag. At night I made a flask of hot chocolate and another of coffee so if I awoke cold I had a hot drink.
Biggest problem was keeping myself occupied during long nights - solo camping, plenty reading. Campsite had usual showers though fairly basic apart from a small TV room. Used to take evening meal in there.

Thank you for that Liverbird, we were looking for somewhere outside London to take in the sights rather than the generic hotel. Will look into it further now. Much appreciated.
