Most definately, we have both, it was fab having the footprint as it keeps the bottom of your tent clean.
this makes the difference when you come to packing it away.
The carpet was great as the kids played happily on the floor and didn't complain about it being cold or anything, also at the end of our camping holiday we lifted it out and shook it, so no mess inside the tent.
A footprint is great ,( but use a tarp not the branded tent ones!)..if you have a sewn in groundsheet - as it saves having to clean the bottom of your tent when packing away and can be packed away from the tent to keep everything clean .Its pretty pointless if your groundsheet is seperate. I know lots of people have carpets too and they help with keeping the tent warm and cosy. I manage fine with a couple of picnic rugs (and its a lot cheaper). I suppose its all down to budget and personal preferance.

Carpet is brilliant. My camping in the old days was in mountain type tents and we packed light, so carpet not an option. But it's family camping now, with transport, and I wouldn't be without a carpet of some sort.
But, instead of looking at the picnic rug or the proper tent carpet options, I decided to buy a large natural coir rug and it's fantastic. It will also be used at home so I don't even have to store it anywhere! You can see a bit of it in the picture below. It made a huge difference to tent homeliness and comfort!
yes, tarp is much cheaper and does the same job, our outwell carpet is fab , and far superior to the gelert carpert my sis bought. The outwell one lies flat and stays flat , the gelert one is lighter and doesn't stay put as well as the outwell one. it wrinkles and creases up.
Yes, both are worth it. With a footprint you can work out exactly where you want the tent to be, especially useful in tight pitches. The carpet is simply a godsend. Get both.

We put a tarp down and had the carpet and it was luverlee Nice and warm and comfortable underfoot and the kids could sprawl out on it to draw, do jigsaws, play games.
------------- Beware newbie alert :) will be asking stupid questions.
i think the carpet is amazing - we use carpet in the main living areas and picnic rugs in the bedroom. Keep trying to get a footprint cheap, but still undecided if its worth it. as for some saying its extra insulation, i think the extra insulation a second tarp brings is minimal to be honest, but good for deciding the direction to pitch tent.
------------- Camped since 2008 and still loving it!
Tbh,the main reason to get a footprint is imo to keep the underneath of your SIG free from dirt and mud.Your tent then is always going away clean and you can just hose/brush your footprint when you get home.
