Tenacious tape is excellent stuff.
Cut it a little larger than the tear, round of the edges then stick it over the tear. You can do both sides to make it stronger.
But dont pack the tent away until the tape is dry or it might stick to bits where you dont want it and that would not be a good thing :)
Or there is something similar called tear aid which is very flexible.
But tenacious tape worked for us and once dry, stays put
