Hi
Have you considered a paraffin heater. I spoke to karsten about putting a chiminy and wood burner in our tent, they were not impressed. However, as someone else has said, hunters use stoves in tents in Canada and the US, so they are out there. But they are such a lump to carry around and then you need to think about the fuel.

We were up in Scotland in February and the paraffin heater was great in the awning. Good for drying out skiing gloves too.

I do love the idea of a real stove though.

good luck

I use a Chalwyn paraffin wick burner stove/heater. I know there are safety issues with any flame in a tent, but the drive to the camp site is still a far greater risk. One of the problems with removing risk is that we can become complacent, which is far more dangerous.

Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.

I quite fancied the idea of a paraffin heater for the tent so did a little Googling and found this....Forgive the copy and paste

...

Paraffin heaters also pose a risk to health. Paraffin heaters, especially those that are unvented to the outside (as would the case be with a portable heater), are a significant source of indoor air pollution. Research studies, including those conducted by my colleagues, have shown that paraffin heaters emit a number of pollutants typically associated with combustion or burning, including carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide, as well as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and phthalates, among other pollutants. Exposures to these pollutants have been linked to a variety of adverse effects, ranging from headaches to breathing difficulties to death. These effects may occur shortly after breathing in these pollutants or may occur after years of exposure. They may also occur more readily in certain susceptible people, such as the elderly, children, and people with asthma.

Don't think I'll be bothering.

We have a really big frame tent. Can we use a wood stove in it safely? What are some good UK suppliers?
