We normally book a site a few weeks in advance and only just managed to get into a site for a week this year booking 10 weeks in advance.

How far in advance do you usually book ?

We book well in advance because we have to holiday during the school holidays cos of my holidays and hubby's works shutdown plus we want EHU.  I suppose everyone's requirments are different, some people can just up sticks and go others need to plan well in advance.

We've just booked Fforest Fields for next August.  Usually book about January time if we want to go away Whit week and a few weeks later for August Bank Holiday.

I go camping most weekends if I can and often only book up a day or two beforehand when I have seen what the weather is likely to be. It is getting more and more difficult to get the sites I want at such short notice though.

I don't take annual holidays. If I did I would certainly have to book up many weeks in advance for peace of mind and to make sure of a pitch.

There was a time when I didn't bother booking at all...just went and found a site when I got there, but with camping becoming so popular that is now risky.

Quite recently (before the BH) I booked a pitch on a site. It turned out to be too waterlogged to camp so they gave me my money back. To make matters worse I had arranged to meet somebody there later as well. I then spent the rest of the day searching for a site with a pitch. There were a few but on rough looking sites. I eventually found a decent one and managed to redirect my mate, but it was touch and go for awhile.

At one time it wouldn't have worried me at all but sites seem to be permanently full now, certainly in the middle of summer.

The day before at the earliest , unless it was a particular offer or popular site , as the great British weather is a law to itself !!

At the last minute after the last two summers (ha!) I'm fed up of getting wet. I do book one site a year just to make sure I go somewhere.

I read yesterday in the Times that a survey showed that 54% of us Brits intend to holiday in the UK in 2010, the figure was 26% this year.

Imagine what that is going to do for site bookings...............

I think it's not a bad idea to get in asap with the main camp, and take the rest as they come!

We book our main August holiday 12 months in advance, whilst we are there as we use the same site for the big holiday. That way we ensure we get the same pitch at thr right time for us.

Our shorter breaks we tend to book around feburary time as we like to try and visit other parts of the country.

Havent tried the turn up and see approach yet but may do as the kids get older

We only go camping to see what we have forgotten and what we need to get for next time. If only we could remember where we put the list..................

Never any earlier than a couple of days, mostly the day before or that morning.  Sometimes we don't book at all and just pitch up and have found some lovley sites that way! (and not so lovely ones!)
