As I'm going camping next weekend, much later in the year than is normal for me, I'm considering abandoning my green credentials (for a few days only!) and buying an EHU so I can take a fan heater.
I looked at some and they had the special plug on both ends. Is there an adaptor or something that you have to buy as well so you can plug in normal 3-pin plugs?
remember keep all electric plugs off the ground and watch out for damp and rain electric is not to be taken lightly in a tent which,is why a rcd is needed.
I balk at £50 for something I'll probably only ever use once though. I reckon I'll put up with the cold. The things I saw were £12! Can't I buy one of those, cut off the 2-pin socket and add a 3-pin socket like on an ordinary extension lead?

Nooooooooooooooooo! .....
------------- We don't stop playing because we get old...we get old because we stop playing x
None of my friends camp outside of festivals, let alone use EHU. I'll just take lots of clothes. I'll be the one wrapped up in a roll of vetbed fleece next weekend.<G>
I have just returned from a night's camping and it got a little nippy in the early hours. It is certainly starting to get a nip in the air at night. I find a nip or two down my throat before bed helps
I'm going non ehu next weekend for the 1st time in ages and I'm a bit apprehensive tbh. Wher are you fran100, my ehu will be sat in the garage!!
I'm planning on taking plenty of blankets, have a tent carpet, always insulate the beds well and will wear jogging bottoms/top in bed and will be using my new blackcat heater for the 1st time.

We went at Easter last year and temperatures over night were below zero. We woke up to scatterings of snow on the tent as a guide.
Although we had EHU we do not own any form of heater (unless you include the gas lamp)
We used blankets under as well as on top of the beds and we used sleeping bag liners as well
The only time anyone of the four of us complained of cold was when we were getting ready for bed
Other than that we were snug as bugs in rugs.
Layers are the key
------------- We only go camping to see what we have forgotten and what we need to get for next time. If only we could remember where we put the list..................
