In our experience GO have been good at sorting things out. If the replacement is *clearly" new and unused - still in the Outwell box (unopened) etc, you can price match it against the cheaper one you've seen, and get that price minus a further 10% !
I'd still be tempted though to open the pole bag at least and check 'em.
I have found GO to be really good on price and service, maybe someone picked up the wrong box for dispatch it can happen in a busy warehouse.Surely a company as big as GO with outlets nationwide would not tarnish their reputation palming off faulty goods.Whenever I visit my local GO store the staff are so helpfull and obviously campers themselves,I dont think running down GO will help either us or them as they have brought supermarket type price wars to the camping and leisure arena.Mick. Ps I hope your next tent experience from GO will be better.

I'm with you Mick on that one, but prepare to put your tin helmet on
I usually find I get all worked up taking damaged goods back to the shop, but I've found these days most shops who value their reputation (and GO evidently do!) will bend over backwards to replace or refund.
I believe there should be no argument over giving you a refund. As buyer, it's your right, on having been sold damaged goods, to have a full refund and no questions asked. The matter of replacement only comes in if you ask for one for some reason (like they are the only people currently stocking your favourite tent) or if the reason for taking it back is that you've changed your mind and you feel it's not exactly what you want. If you can show them damage or wear in what they've sold as a new tent, you are legally entitled to a full refund.
According to the laws of contract, you don't even need the receipt as card payments can now prove where you made the purchase. But of course it's useful as instant proof that you bought it there.
I agreee, with GO you won't even need your receipt, just your membership card as this stores all your transactions - I know, I lost my receipt took something back and they took my card swiped it and got the details.
the packaging on my poles was totally different so it looks like i had a proper duff set.
any way great service and he swapped the tent and poles, i then asked for price match and he agreed, £50 back. Feeling lucky i then asked for my delivery money back and he said i need to do this with the web team which i will.
So today i have another, proper, brand new outwell for a little over £300.
We had a problem with a tent & got the Monty with the refund, for the messing about we asked for a discount on a porch & got it for £30, should have mentioned it earlier .
You could mention it to the web supplier, see what they offer, the porch is worth its weight in gold.
good news, heard back today after asking for my postage back etc gesture of goodwill of course and they are offing another 10% refund....wohoo so my new tent outwell monty brand new cost us £270...RESULT !
Nice one Space_Cowboy,
It shouldn't have had to come to this but the retailer came up trumps in the end(well done Go Outdoors).
I hope you enjoy your new tent.
