Hi all,
Just back from two almost perfect nights camping. Almost, as my dog, and the only other camper could both snore for England. No actually Great Britain.
My ebay Relum Geodesic never moved in the really strong winds on the first night, and no rain leaked in either. I used it because I thought it would be warmer, as it is a lot smaller than my bell tent. I was proved correct, it was so warm, I had to turn off the heater and just use the paraffin Vapalux lamp. Half a case of Carlsberg Export and a dose of Aerosmith, set me up for the second nights sleep. Sadly home now and planning the next trip. Problem is that my daughter is due her baby in the next two weeks, and for some reason, my wife thinks that that gives her priority for using the car. Quite how she came to that decision is beyond me, but apparantly camping comes second. Def the best time of year now as the sites are almost empty
------------- Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.

Oooh, keep your head down
I think the distaff side don't see that as a problem !
Grandmas-to-be, no sense of priority eh.
All well, great times camping ahead, with the little one
Hope all goes well.

I'm with the use of the car for camping - babies never come when they should so you have time to get 2 weekends in before having to worry.
Hope all goes well with your grandchild (1st one??)

Love camping but love babies too!! Find a campsite near home so you and/or the car are available at short notice?

Hi Keely
How did you guess it's the first one.
I could still go camping locally, but I wanted to try the Serenity site just above Whitby, but it's over an hour away.

Hate to throw in another problem Raf, but unless your moby is on Orange, you probably won't even get a 'phone call when the baby decides to make an appearance
Serenity is a lovely site, with a great pub, The Brown Cow, just across the road. However, I've had to loan two fellow campers my mobile to ring home, as most networks other than Orange just don't get a signal in Hinderwell. We were told that the locals all use Orange

What's a moby ? Is an Orange moby one of thoses things you hang over a cot?
I have a canvas tent and a kelly kettle and no ehu. I'm a ludite. I was thinking of getting one of those music boxes, I think they are called a wireless.
One of the things I love about the Lake District, is that I normally can't get a signal, so that's def a bonus for the Serenity site.

Oh you little devil Bet you'll be just as excited as the new grandma when baby comes
I'd like to see the looks you'd get from a young assistant in an electronics store if you asked for a 'wireless' They'd probably try to sell you a keyboard or a mouse

Hi raf,
I agree about it being a great time of year to camp, me and my daughter went to a site at Otringham East Yorkshire last weekend, 2 caravans, 1 camper van and our tent on the whole site.
The site and weather were great, and we cycled it into Withersea about 7 miles each way, a realy relaxing time was had
Hope this good weather lasts for some more trips, planning the Lakes next month, this time the wife is coming so I might have to put my hand in my pocket.
Regards rob
