Well next year I need to do something about the 'volume' of stuff I take, as on the way back on the train this year the guard told me I had too much luggage!!! []

I only take what I consider essentials already though, and I don't want to spend two weeks in a small backpacking tent.....so I'm looking for 'smaller' pack sizes/weight on everything apart from the tent.....my canvas ridge (well, one of them!) is non negotiable!

So my New Year resolution will be a predictable one....to lose inches and pounds!

For me it's more of the same really. I plan to go to as many different sites as possible, I like to go to places I've never been too before. Might even go over to Ireland.

We no longer camp under canvas but when we did we made good use of the EHU and heaters to prolong ourcamping season in fact we did'nt have a season as with heating its possible to go away all year round.

Talking to people on sites this year I feel that we will see a reduction in campers as the first jet setters get back to European holidays and only the real campers will continue. I was surprised how many people were "just giving it a go to save money" and I think they will disappear.

I think you will also find sites looking at how they can get more people in. Not necessarily reducing pitch sizes although some will. I was disappointed to see that Polmanter were converting their dog walking field to accomodate more pitches, and I hope they dont just let dog walkers (myself included) use the recreation field.

Strangely as you can see we tend to tour around Cornwall with our van so converting to a tin tent has made us think more about where we go and we certainly dont tour as far afield now as we used to.

That sounds lovely - if you ever fancy a solo camp with another solo camper pitched nearby just shout - I'd love to do a solo camp but with an occasional bit of company if that makes any sense!

I'll seriously bear it in mind - not that I don't love being with OH but there are times when you need the 'tranquility of soltitude' aren't there?

Think we'll stay in the UK next summer. The Euro exchange rate nearly killed us this year. Was nice to get a tan though . . . .
Hopefully venture further north at Easter (to avoid midges!) and further south in the summer months (for that sense of the 'continent'!). x

Out and about camping more next year would be my wish

Managed quite a few camping/fishing overnighters this year...and will probably contine that next year...but it would be nice to go camping...and see some of the sights around the site

This year I overdid it a bit with the stuff I take...IE taking both leccy and other means of cooking(as back up) etc...need to learn to trust my equipment and scale down a wee bit...Not that Ive got all that much to start with...But the stuff I pack...and never use is beginning to irritate me.........

Jelboy.

Now that I have discovered the joys of camping I want to go everywhere and anywhere( cheap mind ) Only trouble is him indoors wants to keep going back to the same flippin site.

I'm with you on that!! Hubby has found 3 very good sites that we love and they all have what we look for whilst camping!! Just hope next year he finds a sense of adventure as i would love to spend our 7/8 weeks away on  7/8 different sites instead  of just the same few!!

We are definitely planning on doing more tent camping this year, We wussed out on all but 1 of our tent trips and took the caravan due to bad weather,

Next year WILL be a tent camping year (during the warmer months at least)

Will need to get a roof box, too, me thinks. Can get everything in at a squeeze and determined not to aquire any more 'stuff' but it takes so long to pack because it's such a complicated 'jig-saw' in our boot. Also, for next year, thinking about some kind of bbq/fire-pit that will get us away with a real fire on sites that don't allow them. A bit sneaky, I know, but surely can be done some how! Mmmm . . .
