Still being newbies to camping (only having 'seen the light' again this year after a sixteen year absence) we're still looking for our 'perfect' tent. We initially had the Outwell Nevada M which was a lovely tent but not quite big enough and we have subsequently moved on, after one trip in the Nevada, to an Idaho L. Although both tents are fantastic, OH and I tend to disagree somewhat on what we're looking for! We are therefore looking to go to an outdoor show in the New Year to see if we can find something that suits us both, which is where the advice is required. I see that there are two shows at the NEC early 2010 - the Boat and Caravan Show(albeit it appears there are a lot of tents on display too) in February and the Ordnance Survey Outdoor Show in March. Has anyone been to both? If so could you advise as to which would have the biggest range of tents/manufacturers? We've seen the Royal Winnipeg 6 online and think it may fit the bill but would like to be able to see it in the flesh.
Recommendations of which show to go to and when would be really welcome! It's either that or the "How to Divorce Amicably show 2010'
I cannot advise you on the shows as iv only been to one, on the promise that a tent i specifically wanted to see was pitched, was not.So i called Yeomans and went to see at one of there outdoor shops and they told me that they would match the offer of buying from the store as the offer that was on at the show.So i did saved £50 and promply spent it on some good sleeping bags.
I did wish i had gone to the later one , think it was the caravan and camping show, as they extend the show outside in the better weather.
Have been to the Boat, Caravan etc show once in 08 and they had one small for the tents (The Pavillion if you know the NEC) Have been twice to the Outdoors Show and they have the display outside. I recall it being bigger than indoors. Might not be right, but would guess that because it is a month later there are more tents out from the manufacturers.
Really enjoyed both shows though
