Wow, what a fantastic few days I've just had! 17

Been to The Orchard campsite in Suffolk and had the most brilliant time - had a fabulous roaring campfire each night, toasted marshmallows etc.

Tried out the fat airics too - must say I was a bit unsure the first night as Iike the comfort of an airbed but by last night I'd got used to them and slept like a log! They are incredibly warm too campared to an airbed - I'm converted!

And as for october camping.......... well, the weather was amazing - really mild - better than we had in August! But I just don't want to be at home now - I want to be sitting round that campfire 17

The deperssing thing is tomorrow I have to sort out all my stuff and store it away till the spring - unless I am really brave and do a midwonter camp 17 17

Sounds wonderful, i'm jealous ....we had awful weather two out of three days in Scotland, good job we were in a chalet and not camping really, but we had a good time, although i wish i'd taken my fat airic to sleep on as the beds were sooo uncomfy.

This is a very funny, sounds just like our experience!!!!!!!!!

We are just back from The Lakes, first trip with "fat eric" wow he is fantastic, like sleeping with a heated blanket!

We were so toastie, no EHU, but it was mild, however I'm never warm in the summer so it must be down to Airic

We arrived at the campsite and the farmer was lovely but thought we were mad? no other campers? We had a great time but the downside is MUD! very wet field! Monday night though we had a roaring fire, lovely sky etc

Excellent - I love mine too - stil trying to find a suitable place to keep them instead of rolling them up - to fat for under the beds, too tall for behind the wardrobes - do you think they'll be OK in the loft? Its either that or on top of the wardrobe and that looks messy!! Also if it's on show I might be tempted to sleep on it how sad would that be 17

I couldn't get over how much warmer they are compared to an airbed!

I know...I have been an aerobed fan for a long time...but they were on offer and we camped this weekend...loved them.

Mine are going to be stored rolled up I think.....A mouse has eaten a chair in my usual storage space!! ( not the whole chair)

Hi Anne,
We just got back from the Orchard today, had a fantastic time with all our camping buddies, its a shame we only got to see you for a short time but there is always next year

Weather was fine until this morning when we had to put all the tents away wet due to torrential rain!!!!

Had a great time dressing up and sending up a barrage of sky lanterns last night- i've never seen so many glow sticks in my life LOL...
We had a "banquet" last night with home made chilli and jacket potatoes cooked on the fire, Garlic bread (courtesy of the tin-tenters in our midst) and baked bananas and chocolate buttons for dessert (also cooked on the fire) I even made some apple sauce on the Trangia from the apples picked at The Orchard.....

We had the use of the Mess tent and it was a huge success, All the children (and adults) helped to decorate it for Halloween and it fit us all in when the evenings turned damp....

We used our Outwell self-inflating mats with our Coleman Hudson 450 sleeping bags and were REALLY warm (didn't even need to use the heater TBH)
All in all we had a brilliant week again, its a shame thats it for this year

I'll try to E-mail you some pictures of our "little village" so that you won't feel too left out

Sounds like you have a whale of a time - we kept thinking about you all during the weekend - the rain here was awful yesterday and I thought you'd probably end up with wet tents!

The food sounds scrummy - glad you got to celebrate Halloween in style! Would love some pics if you get a minute.

Here's to a meet up next year!

Anne

I asked Alpkit about storing Fat Airic in the loft and was advised against it as the temperature varies so much and apparently if they get too warm they delaminate.

The woman couldn't get her head around the fact that I don't have any beds with space under them (they are either divans with drawers or have spare beds built underneath) or non-fitted wardrobes I can store them behind.   We have decided to rejig the spare room to try and find some space, otherwise it will have to be the garage as the temperature doesn't fluctuate quite to much, although it does get pretty cold it never gets hot.

Oh thanks for that info Christine - yes, I'm the same - all my beds are divans and same wordrobe problem as you. I'd better get them out of the loft then and put the along the top of my dounle wardrobe although they look awful at least they fit!

Thanks again
