I prefer sites with minimal facilities and plenty of space between tents, and I imagine these sites won't be banning groundsheets in a hurry.
I would be very unhappy without a SIG. I even sewed one into my old 6 ft. ridge tent years before ridge tents were supplied with them. I just like the cosiness of a SIG, and the reduction of draughts and bugs.
If this rule became the norm, I'm afraid it would put me off camping altogether, and I thought I would never say that!
Our first awning/tent has no sig and our wee dogs can escape all over the place but our latest awning/tent, with its sig, cuts down the escape routes by 80%.
Like F of O, we too prefer the minimum of facilities and the maximum space. As do the dogs as seen here at Brier Lea campsite in Longtown.

Christ, I remember Longtown, used to live halfway between Haltwhistle & Haydon Bridge (my job used to take me all over the country). I used to come off the M6 early to take the back road, through Longtown, stop off at the Bargain Booze for supplies, then Brampton for the excellent fish & chips. Moved back south July 2000 only to spend most of 2001 watching them burning the cows in Longtown because of the Foot & Mouth. Strange to see a place that you used to go through on a daily basis, then being used for that.
Hi Rod Hog, The Brier Lea campsite is behind a Guest House on the Brampton Road as you leave Longtown.
You cannot see the campsite from the road and is one of these little gems that you come across by accident and then keep going back to year after year.
Being 140 miles from us, it is an ideal overnight stop for us if we journey south.
Hello - I visited a campsite a while ago, the name of which I can't remember off the top of my head, where they stated that breathable groundsheeets were preferred, and if you stayed at the site for more than three days you might be asked to move the tent to let the grass recover. I didn't have a breathable groundsheet - at least I don't think the one in my tent is - but as I only stayed two nights there was no comment.
I couldn't face camping without a sig - my love of nature does not extend to sharing my sleeping space with it!
