Hi fostermum, I've no idea about pitching in the snow, but buried deep in my mind somewhere, I have a thought that snow needs to be cleared from the ground where you want to pitch the tent, rather than on top of the snow. because of snow melting under the tent. I could be totally utterley wrong as I am wondering what do they do, when camping in the artic, springs to mind!!!!!!!!!!!
Some one must now for sure. Have a great time.
I have read your other thread all I can say super fostermum.

Tents can be pitched on snow and ordinarily it wouldn't melt. With heating inside the tent it could melt to some extent, depends on the thickness and ground temperature I imagine.
If the snow is thin and powdery, brushing some away makes sense, especially under sleeping areas, but that's more to do with reducing cold coming upwards. If your body heat was melting the snow, you'd be in big trouble in terms of cold.
As always, insulation from the ground is important. Especially so on frozen ground. The best commonly available solution is closed-cell foam mats, plus whatever else you use.
