Hello

I have been a member for a long time but haven't been on for quite a while as we have been moving/changing jobs/starting uni/having a baby....

Well, we used to go camping as a family of 4 and really enjoyed it, I want to get back into it but we now also have a baby who will be 1yr old next week and are expecting baby 4 in June.....I am planning to go in April/May and am perfectly happy taking the 1yr old, but would you (risk going in August) taking a baby who is only a couple of mths old? Do you think it would be better to leave it till next year?

We initiated our son Monty to camping when he was just 7 weeks old with no problems. We were camping local to home in case he screamed all night, or we felt that maybe this wasn't a good idea, but hey he slept all the way through, and now, just like his sister, who we started off at 3 months old loves camping.

We camped with him in 1st Week May, but in August it'll be a lot warmer...

Just make sure your are well prepared, got plenty of blankets etc, and maybe stay localish... if you are a little uneasy.

James

Thanks james

Good to know other have done it. I was thinking of keeping it very local, Delamere is only 10/15mins away and we haven't been, so was thinking that might be a good place.

I really can't wait to go tbh. Our new car has a tow-bar already fitted so I am going to invest in a trailer and do the same as my mum, have the trailer packed and ready to go at all times, so only clothes/food need to be chucked in and we can be off....

Hi Mel

Just take a few pair of earplugs for you neighbours, lol, only joking

we took our little boy when he was only a couple of months old, we took the travel cot, and a heater incase it got a bit cold during the night, he slept really well

Having your stuff put away in a trailer is a good idea, i put a tarpaulin in there first then wrap it over the top around everything and its all kept dry

Good Luck with no4

Pete

Go for it, we did when little C was 16 weeks and she's nearly 3 now and a seasoned camper.  They sleep so much at that age anyway and the fresh air is good for them.

Have fun

I agree with what everyone else said - Be prepared and go for it!

It will be hard, it will be stressful but it will be fabulous, too!  But I guess that's just life with kids!

we was camping last year next to a couple with a new born, and they did have a little trouble settling the babby down, but this was early morning or late at night, no bother during the day from what i could tell!

didnt bother us the baby crying either, they have as much right to be there as us, and i would sooner listen to that then a bunch of drunks lol!

my g/f mum has foster babies all the time and takes them caravaning during the summer months and she never has any trouble

Get yourself off.

We first too DD last year when she was just 6mths old and then again at 7.5mths.

Just took a heater the second time round for nightime feeds because she was still feeding once a night and I was dithering with my chest out!

We shall be taking her again this year, but I've got to buy one of those ground stakes you have for dogs to stop her wandering!

we went last year when my youngest was a newborn. Think about 5 weeks? Was easy as we just took the moses basket and put it in the bedroom at our heads. It was fine. This year she will have just turned one.

Baby due in June, planning to go camping for two weeks in July.

I swing between looking forward to it and being a bit daunted by it. We've camped in all weathers and conditions and survived well enough to keep doing it, so I'm sure this 'ere camping with baby lark will be ok too...
