I've just had a ball today..lol..

I'm mentioned before that a friend of mine who I took camping last year fell in love with it and is starting to build up her own equipment this year. She's really left it up to me (I'm willing) to advise on what she needs! I bought the Icarus 500 on her behalf earlier and today we went shopping for other bits and bobs. How much fun was it putting camping related things in the trolley but knowing I wasn't paying for them..lol.. We came out with, a cooker with grill, a cool box, an airbed, a table, spare tent pegs, a footprint, sets of knives/forks/spoons...oh I so enjoyed myself!!

I couldn't resist though and bought an airbed and my travel towel but I restrained myself and that was all I bought!

Just wish we could go now!

Now that sounds like my idea of heaven - all the choosing, deciding, contemplating and none of the pain of spending!

Just get your friend to agree that someone needs to do a first test on all the gear for her then you will have all the pleasure and none of the pain

Its a great job....my story is very similar....I talked my niece into buying a Cabanon Montpellier (fabulous condition), 2x coleman comfort airbeds, 2x stuff sacks, an inflatable sofa and thermals for the kids. It was her birthday so I bought her 5m x 4m pondliner, 2x rhino trugs, plastic chopping boards, UFO light, heat resistant table and bits n pieces to start her off. My sister bought her a tent carpet. She has now seen loads more stuff she wants including a cooker, bbq, bedding, lighting etc....a towbar and a trailer

Sounds like lots of fun!!! I love spending time in camping shops and on websites to see whats new and what i want (not need - just want!!). My only problem is fitting everything in as each time we go - I seem to have bought something new. Having just got my extension and footprint for the XL, that will have to be my fix for now!!

I did something similar for my sister only I did all my research on the internet and sent her links to every item I was recommending. I sent her so many links I'm sure she couldn't be bothered going through them all but I sure had fun going over all the options.

I would have to say (Being a camper) that that would be my ideal way to spend a day buying camping gear either for a friend or myself.....If for a friend...there would be a sound like....Aaawwwwww! as he /she took the stuff into their own house....

The Montpellier she bought was advertised on another forum Keely, I think it had only been used once. I bought one from this site and I think it might be a fairly recent model. I have only ever seen the blue/grey one like yours, the one that was on ebay and the green/blue one like Fostermums. I'll post a pic when I get it pitched at Easter, but its blue/yellow and cream.
