Hello everyone - thank you so much for all your responses, this is such a brilliant website/tool, really are grateful.

Think we've decided to leave it until the first may bank holiday.....we don't have a heater and the news today mentions there might be a heat wave this summer - so if we stay patient.....!

Gutted tho, but good things come to those who wait! xxxx

Atherwitzend,

I see that you have booked Riverside, Cononley, we have booked there for Easter and spring bank!  Have you stayed there before??  We went to have a look at the site yesterday and thought it was lovely, just wondered about the proximity of the train line!

Gotta say I would leave it for a few weeks for your first trip

I camped last Easter near Leeds and it wasn`t too bad

the year before (Easter was at the end of March) it snowed !! Was a fantastic experience but was very cold. I was prepared though as forecast had been for snow but I`m an experienced camper.

Was at a biker rally and the camaraderie was just brilliant !

Riverside is one of my favourite sites, have been 3 times before. It isn't a fancy site, but it is in a lovely location with wonderful views. The couple that run it are lovely and really helpful.

The train line does run next to the site but it isn't a problem.   As the trains pass the site they are either slowing for the station or just leaving the station so they are moving slowly and it isn't a busy line. We don't notice them.

The site is located at the end of a lane so there is no traffic noise.

Hope you enjoy it

We're thinking of boking there at the end of April (not May BH), how quiet is it at night time, and what time have you been able to turn up from-to?

We have been for the May-day bank holiday and twice at August bank Holiday and never really had a noise problem from other campers. The area surrounding the site is quiet at night except for a rare late train, the odd cow and early cockerels. It is probably about the most peaceful site I have been on.

When we were there last May-Day there was village fair and scarecrow festival taking place. On the sunday the owners told everyone on site that they could stay pitched for the day if they wanted to go the festivities, or if you wanted to decamp they were happy for you to leave your car on site. I'm sure if your pitch is free and you speak to them the owners would allow you to arrive early and/or leave late.

Thanks for that. Looks like we will be choosing this place, seems very popular. There are a few Scarcrow festivals in the area, we go to one at Wray, May BH. Always a great family day out.

The couple at Riverside have been so helpful, we have had to alter dates over easter and because we went to look at it, we specified a pitch and she has done it no problem.  Thanks Atherwitzend for your comments, cannot wait to go, only 12 more sleeps!!!

Might even see some of you guys there at some point!!

Well i went camping at Easter and have before but this year with out ehu and missed the fan heater, would recommend with hookup but the temp from teatime does drop and although warm once in bed it is that period in between that is the killer. Had a gas heater but not the same as the fan heater and would not go again with ehu.
