We use picnic rugs on the floor and fleece blankets on top of the self inflating mats or airbeds.

Same here

Fleecy throws would move about too much for my liking if you used'em as a floor covering.

the footprint carpets look great if you have space for them - they look quite bulky, but maybe its just because i'm jealous and want one!!  We always use a picnic rug on the floor.  Have found that the cheaper ones don't last long though.

The point of it is to make it warmer in cold weather, and more comfy if you sit on the floor.  I guess its a personal thing.

I'm with you on this. Just one more thing to carry around in an overstuffed boot imho. If the groundsheet is cold, why not wear a pair of socks?

We use an Outwell picnic mat with a couple of beach mats.  We use the beach mats either side of the mattress as it's easier to keep sleeping pod grit free; just pick 'em up and shake outside.  The picnic mat is used usually at the end of the mattress because this is a walkway and more cosy under foot - I also like the look of it; sort of nomadic and ethnic especially when we finish off with an assortment of fleece throws on the bed

Gelert Horizon carpet, kept it when we sold the old tent. Great in the bedroom only a bit too big which we just fold under itself. Nice to walk on and stops the Areobed getting cold too. Folds up smaller than 3 picnic rugs!

We use picnic rugs in the livingroom, foam mats in the bedroom under the airbed, and a fleecey over the airbed but under the sheet. keeps hubby toastie warm (he moans terribly if he's cold!)

I think if you have a sig, carpets or picnic blankets are a good idea to help protect it & keep it clean.  However we don't have a sig and still have an Outwell carpet because the kids are young and don't use chairs so they are always on the floor playing but also because I like it to be cosy.   I don't bother in the bedrooms underfoot but I do insulate the airbeds with a picnic blanket & we have all have throw or fleece blanket at the foot of our beds to throw over us if we get chilly.
