We are off to Tynllwyn Caravan And Camping Park on Friday for 2 nights and as this is the earliest(coldest!) we have ever camped I was just wondering if it is noticabely colder than say May/June?
We have good sleeping bags, will have picnic blankest under the matresses, will have plenty of layers ourself & if room allows we will be throwing in the quilt from home too!
What are your experiences at this time?

Last year we went the 23rd of april for sons birthday and it was very mild, we had some warm sunny days and even when the rain came it was still warm . Not even tempted to try it this year , its bleddy freezing here . The nights were no problem either , we were all warm and snug . we didnt even need the fan heater on .
The year before our first camp was at whitsun and it was absolutely freezing , too cold to sit outside in the evenings and we were cold in bed too.
not much help really, take hot water bottles just in case .

we've just come back, and it is cold in the evenings, lots of layers, wooly hat, out to the pub if you like, then into bed early!
we still haven't used our heater!

Hi . All I can say is that there was a sharp frost round here last night. Took ages to scrape the ice off the car

I'm taking my 2 boys on Monday for a couple of nights. Thinking of Devon, the night temp looks to be 4 degrees, which doesn't sound too bad and we've camped in plenty of times before. Last summer in the Jura we had one odd night when the temp plummeted to 5 degrees.
We'll use the Vango Beta 450, all together I can keep a close eye on the kids. I'm going to put my 5 year old in his junior 2 season sleeping bag then put that partly inside his Dads sleeping bag.

We've just come back from 4 nights in the Peak District. Nice and warm at night with the following bedding: airbed, fleecy mattress protector, Vango 350 sleeping bag, 10tog duvet, 2 blankets (our son also had a Gelert sleeping bag liner) plus hot water bottle. It was a bit cold first thing in the mornings (no heater) but dressing gowns proved too warm by 8.30. Plenty of layers and its fine!

Blimey Helen, no wonder you were warm!!
Well the ewather during the day was glorious and was beach weather, so had a lovely seaside break!...all gone cold again today though.
Night times were also fine, I was aware the temmp was low, however we were not cold...if that makes sense?!!
Had a great time and now know we will be fine to camp at those night time temps again....hope everyone else that managed to get away this weekend also had a great time.
Roll on the next trip!
