What do you do when packing up? We have an electric pump which sucks air out as well as inflates, so the bags only fit vacuum cleaners, or could we use the pump?

I'm wondering the same thing! I'm sure they will as it is just the same as a vacuum. Well I've ordered some so will soon find out, fingers crossed!

I wondered about this, as well lol

I reckon an electric pump (or even a foot pump if it also deflates) could be used.

you can use a airbed pump but you will have to make an adaptor to fit the bag.
its never going to be as good as a hoover but it does work but watch the pump doesnt overheat (not enough air going past the motor)
strangely i found a motorcycle 1tr oil bottles spout fits the airbed adaptor whilst the screw cap is exact for the bag.
its those bottles of engine oil you buy with the pull out flexible spout
no doubt any similar sized cap with a bit of tube glued in will do the job

We use the pump we use on our airbed. We just put the pipe on the inlet to the pump without the adaptor and use it to suck the air out.

We just make sure the valve is closed, seal the bag leaving a small gap in the corner - insert the nozzle from the pump in there to suck the air out - quickly seal the bag completely once air removed and you should be  - we find it works just as well because our nozzle on our hoover doesn't fit so we have to do it that way before we go !!!

We used our cigarette lighter pump on some bags I bought last year, I did think that the pump wasn't strong enough when I tested it so I took bag inside and used the dyson! still rubbish so I took the bags back.

We bought some new bags last weekend so I thought I would try them and lo and behold our air bed pump would not fit, so after scratching my head for an idea for an adapter I tryed using a funnel, small end in the pump making sure it was not to long and big end over the valve on the bag and IT WORKED like a goodun!!

Buy the roll-up vac-bags, save the hassle !   We have used both the suck out, and the roll up type vac-bags from JML /Asda /Poundstretchers    You can also find adapters for air beds in most camping shops. that fit the small electric pumps , just keep the airways clear around the pump.
