We have just received our new weekender tent - Outwell Virginia 5 and are taking it on Sunday for a 2 night break to try it out at a C&CC site, not been to one of their sites before, but looks quite nice and hopefully weather will hold out for a couple of days :)

I'm hoping this is going to live up the Outwell standards we know and trust even though it's an exclusive and will post a review when we get back as at £159 it's a bargain!!

Hi Kellymc1.  We have just ordered the same tent for the same reasons i.e. weekend camping etc.  I now cant wait on it being delivered.  We currently have an Outwell Idaho XL but its a bit of a monster and for this reason wanted a tent that would suit 1-2 night trip away. We hope you have a great time away and look forward to hearing all about it when you come back.  Just saw the weather forecast and it looks like a great weekend ahead!!

P.S  Can you post some pics if poss?

We've just returned from Edisford Bridge, Clitheroe after trying out our new Virginia 5 - brill tent, easy to erect - I would recommend putting some tarpaulin underneath in order to keep the bottom of the tent clean especially with being SIG.  Our 1st tent with SIG and found that 1st night we did have a lot of condensation but this morning it was fine.  also very easy to pack away as the bag is very roomy.  We bought some Vango poles so we could put the front door up as a canopy (cheaper than the outwell ones)   Definitely is only a wkend tent though but really excellent value.

Some friends of ours have bought that recently as well. As a smaller alternaive to their Vermont. Looking forward to seeing it at May Bank Hol.

We aren't really fans of flexible fireblass poles, especially in very windly weather. So have bought a 2nd hand Minnesota 4, which is steel poled but otherwise very simialr

While I agree with you that a steel poled tent is going to be much more stable in windy weather, the problem is that a steel-poled tent like the Minnesota is going to be much harder for a single person to put up than a fibreglassed pole tent is.  Especially if that single person is you know who!

Given that one of our key criteria was that ability for the fairer member of our family to put the tent up by herself, that's why the Virginia won out.
