Hi

newbie so be gentle.
We have decided to openly embrace the camping malarky this year so have been browsing for a tent.  me, OH, 3 kids and very very big dog so we decided on no less than a 7 berth.  After much tooing and froing have bought a Wynnster merucry 9 old model second hand barely used from 2004/2005.  Not used for health reasons and is very good nick.  Trouble is with the dog we wanted a sewn in groudsheet (he's a lurcher cross and if he goes then we won't see him for dust).  Googled it and all that - said it had a SIG so I bought it.  Less than 12 hours later realised I had googled the recent models.  Now for the question:-

Does anyone know if the models from 2004/2005 had a SIG?  That's it, plain and simple.  I know there's previous posts from a few years back on here about them but does anyone'smemory serve them well enough to remember this for me please.  They are going to try and get the tent out if fine weather to have a look but due to the ill health might not be possible.

Anything you can give me would be great - thanks x d

Hi Donnatal,

Looking through the tent reviews there is one on a 2005 model and the owner has wrote " I think this model has been improved since we bought ours. Our groundsheet is not attached in the living area and as a consequence can get rather draughty."

I don't know myself as never seen one but that makes me think that perhaps it didn't come with a SIG until later.

We originally camped without a SIG and had to keep or pooch on a long lead on a screw in tie in the tent as she mischeiviously snook out under the sides! :)

Hopefully someone will come along soon and be able to answer your question that owns one of these tents.

Hi bought a Mercury 9 in 2006 and didn't have a SIG don't believe the ydid SIGs until a couple of years later.  We take our dog smaller than yours but he sleeps in a crate in one of the bedrooms to get round the escaping problem, other than that you could always get one of tose screw tethers that go into the ground, place it just outside then have the lead on dog to reach to his bed inside.

thanks everyone - the gentleman got it out of the bag this morning and it didn't have a SIG - he very kindly let me off with the sale as he didn't state it in the listing.  Anyway, have been to United Caravans in Newcastle today and completely fell in love with Sunncamp Shadow 600 or 800 2010 model, 600 is £175 and 800 is £200 and has all we need for starting off.  So think a trip back is needed.  Thanks for all your help - much appreciated x d
