Last year we got halfway to the campsite and realised we had left the keys for the roof box at home...it had the canvas flysheet in it   Finally got the tent pitched at 20:45!

This last trip, we forgot the kettle for the stove, I thought OH had packed it..luckily our friends had a spare.

Snap we also forgot the roof box key, and in the box was the sleeping bags, blankets, table and chairs. Luckly we'd set off early to avoid the traffic, so we still arrived at a reasonable time.

We've forgot the poles on the current trip we are on now. Silly us didn't check tent bag. Well still racking our brains to where there are. So quick trip to a go outdoors and we treated ourselves to a new tent! Which is worked out well as we have now a perfect tent for our long holidays (I'm in love) it's everything we've been wanting and we can keep the Woburn for weekend trips. So although we didn't to spend the first bit of our holiday shelling out £209 on a new tent I'm glad we did, because as we sat outside under our inter grated canopy last night it was also worth if. :)))

Last trip we travelled down to Folkestone from Northants the day before because we had a 17.30 Chunnel and i had a days work to do as well.

Sadly the following morning i realised we had left the roof box key at home. A round trip home was an option but on the off chance i googled locksmiths.....

First on the list http://www.absolutesecuritylocksmiths.co.uk/contact.htm in Folkestone.

Apparently its quite common and he thought he could get the barrel out and have new keys in 20 mins...cost would be £20.

I headed down....but it seems the Kamai is a tough beast (barrels bolted on the inside so would not just pop out) and he had no joy.....but having the keys for the bars we were able to take the box off and leave it with him.

2 hours later.....he managed to get the box open plus a provide a couple of keys. And they still only charge me £20....

...Offered to pay him double or even more as he saved me £80 cost in fuel plus part of day to still work.

I'm not sure if this counts as forgetting or not; personally, I suspect foul play.

Two years after my marriage had ended, the ex and I were still living under the same roof and things were horribly acrimonious. I badly needed a break and an old friend and I decided to spend a week camping in Dorset.

As all the camping stuff was in the loft, I was dependent on the not-yet-ex for getting it all down for me, including the giant Khyam XL Excelsior, in its enormous bag.

When we arrived at the campsite, I got the outer up with remarkable ease and went to put the poles in that hold out the back, where the sleeping pod goes. No poles. No sleeping pod. No groundsheet. The now-ex had split it into 2 bags and only got one out of the loft, all I had was the flysheet and the poles that are attached.

We both crammed into the other, smaller, tent for the first night and went into Poole the next day, where I bought my first Icarus. I was utterly delighted with it, and am now on my second Icarus. The Khyam hasn't left the loft since that trip, but I'm hanging onto it as it is so easy to put up solo.

Oh, and the friend I went on that trip with is the new Mr Fran.

Apart from that, the only time I recall forgetting anything it was just a tin opener. It's not that I'm organised, but most of the camping stuff lives in a series of boxes, so if we've got the box, we've got the stuff.

We had gone about 4 hours drive away for a 3 day break without EHU. Got everything unpacked only to find husband had forgot to pack the gas pipe for the 3 way fridge. What made it worse for him was when he had used it as a beer fridge in the garden I had specifically told him to make sure he replaced gas connectors in it before he put it away...
My booboo was the following year at the same site . I had forgot to put the curtains back in the TT. I had to use black bin bags on the windows.

When I first started going out with swmbo in the early 90's I had a motorbike..no car. She was quite a posh lass and had never camped in her life and just about accepted being on the bike. I convinced her to come to betws y coed for a naughty weekend. I put the tent and sleeping bags, stove etc on the bike and left the other bits for her to pack. All my own fault!
We got to the site and put the tent up. I got the sleeping bags out to air and said I'm off for a shower.'Chuck us a towel'...........and Emma said - 'I thought they supplied them'. When she turned out her bag she had curlers and tongs, full makeup bag and a wooly dressing gown taking up the rest of the bag. I had to dry myself on a flannel.
We had a lot of years camping and ended up with a 6 berth Kampa Croyde..still for 2 of us. Now we have a tin tent and still bring too much and forget things. Oh well,John

Too old to put up a tent but still like waking up to skies and grass...not a cold hotel

Drove through the kingsway tunnel into Liverpool. It hit me Aaaaarrrrr! Doubled back through the The tunnel. It is £1.70 each way.   Got to the site, no fold up chair,my OH didn't take them out of his car, as asked. Huh

This thread is hilarious. Good to know we are not the only ones who forget important stuff. These little incidents are what makes camping more fun than a fancy hotel with everything you could possibly need.

We have a collection of corkscrews from every trip we've ever been on anywhere, camping or not!

Our first camping trip ever we forgot the mallet, thankfully we found a handy half a brick which was very effective!

I always forget something, normally something I can get round.
But on one trip a couple of years ago I forgot the cool box with food in it. Didn't realize until I stopped for petrol 15 miles from home.
Due to Friday afternoon traffic it had taken me an hour to do the 15 miles. Had to turn round back home, pick up the cool box and start again.

Another time this year while camping locally, I pitched up and then I realized I hadn't packed the towels.
Although home was only hour and a quarter round trip (44 miles) it was cheaper to buy new from a local Tesco.
