Oh no............we went last week and yes it was a bit nippy later on, but the heater was on and we were fine.  We just took extra blankets for on top and below the air beds. 

My OH was not looking forward to it given the conditions the week before we went (and the fact he is not a happy camper) but even he agreed it was fine.

We just got back from our first camping weekend of the season and it was great!

We were on a non-commercial site in Northamptonshire, so no facilities to speak of. We don't have EHU anyway, but had bought a bluecat heater and didn't actually use it.

As the evenings drew in and the sun disappeared, we put a couple of layers on, lit the campfire, and we were warm and toasty. The inside of the tent was really cold, but we both have good quality military surplus sleeping bags and self-inflating mattresses, and once inside the sleeping bags we were warm enough all night, even though there was a frost on both Friday and Saturday nights.

The days were gorgoeus, warm and sunny with a gentle breeze, and we even got to pitch and take the tent down dry! We couldn't have asked for more.

We went the weekend before the one just gone and it was beautiful and really mild (for time of year) at night.  I think its the overnight temp you need to check before heading out as at this time of the year you can get stunning sunshine by day but ice cold evenings.  We were really lucky but we only decided on the Thurs night to go because of the changing weather.  Ive noticed that the evenings are cold for the next few days - we are also going away May bank hol so hopefully there will be another upturn in the weather by then - but May normally is quite nice - fingers crossed!!  It will have to be pretty bad for us not to go though.

Our beds set up seems to be really good as we are never cold in bed despite having camped in freezing temps but its the evenings between the kids going to bed and our bedtime where we have suffered. Last Easter I even bought a fake sheepskin rug to put under our feet where we were sitting in the tent to prevent the cold coming up through the groundsheet & carpet - it does really work though and the kids loved to sit on it and play - even if it did look a bit 1970s!

We were wearing thermals, 2 pairs of jogging pants, sweatshirt, fleece, zip up fleece and I had slipper socks inside my mammoth crocs - and by day we were in shorts & tshirts!!!
