The one piece of advice I'd give anyone is bin the sleeping bags and take decent duvets instead, much better.  If you've got space for it some sort of toilet is handy for night time, doesn't have to be expensive, a bucket with a lid will do the job!

We don't always take our table and stools (tiny wee light things anyway!) as some sites supply picnic tables or we find a nice comfy rock or tree stump to sit on. A good tent, warm bedding, something to cook on/with and a torch - that's all you really need.

wellies and a sense of adventure, lol.

we always take wellies, waterproof jackets and trousers. then if it rains we go out reguardless. we've been rock pooling in the rain and alsorts.

you will find your way, somecampsites have stores with camping essentials so if you find you haven't got something it's there.

enjoy it

There are loads of things you can do without, but I find I must have:

Some string and wire for mending and improvising things

Some big strong bags, so that stuff is not spread all over the floor

A scruffy old towel to use as a doormat, and throw away at the end

A coffee cone and filter papers; must have decent coffee

An ordnance survey map for exploring
