Hi - off to Wales today went camping for the first time in many years last year and now caught the bug.
For us having two dogs its so much easier and cheaper than holidays any other route and you have the opportunity to get away so much more.

Only problem is do you ever stop buying so far this year ive brought another tent (Bear Lake 4) to compliment the Khyam Freelander Deluxe and a Cadac.

Good old Ebay all bargains that just couldnt be missed

Finally would just like to say what a pleasure this site is easy to navigate and all nice people in the 'chat rooms'.

Fingers crossed for some sun

Welcome, we did the same as you last year hadn't been for 30 years, now love it again. Spent loads last year on all the gear, this year we only need..........famous last words a decent cool-box.

But having just looked at someone's link for Aldi, the camp beds are looking pretty good in our advancing years!

Enjoy I am sure you will

Welcome to the forum. I've bought an awful lot this year but then I haven't updated my camping gear for about 6 years - things have moved on an awful lot in that time (sown in ground sheets and suitcase stoves etc) and the only problem is it is highly addictive. Also, when you get something, you always seem to find something better which you'll wish you had of got instead! It probably would be cheaper to kennel the dogs, and take yourself off on a plane somewhere, but then you'll only do that once a year whereas now you can have a holiday at the drop of a hat!

I can relate to your post frome - we only camped for a weekend last year but due to aging kit, made a list of must haves for this year as we are going for a full fortnight to the New Forest.

So far, HAD to buy  a trailer and towbar, double sleeping bag for myself and OH (did have two old singles but trying this), two single Coleman comfort airbeds, a double burner cooker....oops, didnt quite buy the cheap double burner intended but got a Cadac Eazi Chef and a suitcase stove instead, pop-up tent for overnight stops.

Still need to get a single sleeping bag, jockey wheel and spare wheel for trailer, new saucepans (only going to get one larger one now we've bought the CADAC - saved some money!), and various other kitchen bits n bobs.

Want two new comfortable chairs but with that lot above, they'll probably have to wait

So, in answer to OP, NO you dont ever stop buying wither through necessity or desire

Money's always pretty tight here I'm afraid so we are probably the exception. We have decent enough stuff & it does us fine, we like to camp simply anway - just as well really  BUT... there are always extras / upgrades I lust after occasionally - & sometiimes succumb to.

I would love one of the Dutch tents, & a Tipi tent, but we don't need either so unless we suddenly strike rich likely we'll not get either. However we consider ourselves very lucky, lots of people much worse off than we are & we have some very nice stuff anyway

So answer to OP from us is we don't buy that much really, but the desire is still there, just curbed !
