Last year, my cousin, his wife and 2 kids were booking in at their holiday campsite, and the lady on reception nearly didn't let them in!       You see, he drives a converted transit van, and must have been looking a bit brooding on that day, in his cowboy 'hat he likes to wear as a sun hat. .                 The lady at reception made his wife fill in a form, we think this was  to check that she could read and write. They argued that they had been coming to this site for years, and eventually they checked their computer, and saw this was true, so let them in.

They are certain, they were mistaken for 'travellers', lol

My OH says that's me as well - he's always moaning that I attract all sorts of odd people and I need to learn not to.
I'm only being friendly but a couple of times it's got a bit tricky. Not stopped me though

Keely - Good ! Why should we stop treating people like decent human beings just because they don't fit into the stereotype ?

Like Chinagirl's cousin, my OH wears an Australian Akubra hat or a rabbit fur felt brimmed hat (looks similar) - referred to by many as a `cowboy' hat too, rather than the standard issue baseball cap (back to front of you're trendy it seems) It's because they keep the sun out of your eyes, the rain off your face, & he likes them - so do I ! Yet eejits in our local town I've seen giving him `looks' - gee yeah I'd really prefer if he looked (& acted) like them - NOT

In the past we've had a transit van too. It was the only practical & affordable vehicle for us at the time - so what ? The world it seems is full of people with very small minds & sometimes disproportionately big gobs eh ?  I have met some great people, really interesting & nice (ok a few dodgy not so great ones too, but there's clouds & linings too...) & would never have got to know them if I'd had the closed off judgemental attitude so many people adopt.

Vive la difference.
