Have you gone overboard? Perhaps, but then so have a lot of us. We've bought 3 tents in the past year and for some reason I've got four different stoves in the garage. Two different gas lanterns etc etc Just enjoy it though and camp the way you want to.
Personally I would have done without the TV, I think part of the joy of camping is being away from it all and amusing yourselves in other ways. Then again I don't have kids so it's easy for me to say that, and I'm sure if I did I'd at least have a laptop handy for them to watch DVDs on for the times when their 'boredom' started to encrouch on my tranquility and peacefullness.
At the end of the day it's your holiday so take whatever you need to enjoy it. I can't see why anyone wouldn't love it so you'll probably get loads of use out of the equipment you've bought.
I'd recommend getting some decent chairs and one thing I can't camp without is my large acrylic whisky glass!
Oh and by the way, see when you think you have bought everything you'll ever need?....you haven't!....
just been to get the prta loo from lidl and was really surprised to see it was a thetford make still had all the stickers etc on it and also had chemicals as well
windbreak?
And agree some of the little chairs you can pick up for under a fiver in asda for sitting outside, inflatable sofas are a bit of a nuisance I've found.
Oh, puncture repair kit for the sofa!!
and some tables for definite.
We had one camping trip with friends before we decided to invest in our own equipment. Then, before I knew it one weekend we had spent over £1000 getting what we wanted. We have since expanded on that and I love all the bits and bobs that make our camping trips more comfortable. Oh and we take a TV too, though not planning to for our trip to France in the summer.

Hi - do post again after your first outing and let us know how you get on and if YOU think you went OTT, also what was a wise investment and what perhaps was not. Good post as had lots of 'us' commenting...
If you are anything like us, then no, we got our tent in 2008 and of season outwell sunvalley 8, so good deal but got all the bits with it too. We done as basically we could not afford to go away abroad anymore, slight cash flow issue. Therefore it was like camping or dont come!
This year my husband has got a new bigger trailer so i am looking for a duvet instead of sleeping bags, which i hate and i bet you will still be finding things to buy even if you think you have it all.
Def a corkscrew as someone mentioned, and a masher!
------------- Life is not always a bed of roses, but we can try make it one!
