Hi All

New to camping as many of you now know!

Can you let me know what the absolute essentials to camping are (barring tent and warm bedding (goes without saying!!).

Just help me to know what I really need to purchase before going away hopefully next weekend.

:-)

Duct tape... handy for patching repairs to groundsheets, poles etc.

Ponchos

Babywipes

Roll of black bags, handy for anything, including putting a wet tent back into if you have folded it quickly and willy nilly.

Chocolate :)

Wine and beer... pure and simple!

Oh, and a hip flask of whisky or similar, for medicinal purposes, you understand...

Well you might need a few other things...

Tent

Food and a way to keep it cool, even if only a big bowl full of water.

Water carrier

Airbed or carry-mat.

Lamp, torch, head torch - various means of lighting.

Something to cook the food on, unless you're going to eat out.

Matches.

Groundsheet, if you don't have one in the tent.

A change of clothes, and plastic bags to keep your dry ones in!

A spirit of determination!  Looks like it could be a rough weekend.

Have fun!

something to cook on, and gas.

pots n pans, utensils ,corkscrew bottle opener, crockery cutlery (take all these from home , or get melamine stuff from poundland.washing up bowl.tea towels fairy liquid.

something to sit on , and a table?

a light of some sort. batteries.

hot water bottles.

if you dont have a coolbox, maybe a plastic lidded box to keep food in to stop any creepy crawlies getting in.

pop bottles filled with water and frozen will act as good ice packs to keep food fresh longer, and nice cold water to drink when defrosted. or freeze cartons of juice , (lovely when they turn to the slushy stage as a hangover cure )

Basic first aid stuff, especially if you have kids.  Calpol, and anything to deal with stings, grazes etc and plasters. Hangover stuff for you!
