We went on our first camping trip with the kids at the weekend and it was great. Ended up having to take two cars for all the stuff but only an hour away so it was o.k. Think we will have to get a roofbox! ( more spending - OH will be pleased!).  We were really lucky with the weather and although it was cold we were prepared and had a FAB time! Can't wait to go again. OH loved it too and he was very reluctant at first with the idea so all in all very happy!

Great to here JLT1. Looking at a roofbox here as well, even though we have a Zafira and it's only two of us.

I'm pleased you had such a great time. Maybe you can think of some of the things you didn't need after all. You're always learning no matter how many trips you've got under your belt!

We did try the modular packing as far as possible!  Think that alot of space was taken up with all the coats, waterproofs, snow boots etc, etc.... Hopefully will go when the weather is a bit warmer next time and will get rid of alot of the big bulky items that way ( OH's coat alone took up half the car!!!!!!! - but glad of it as it was VERY cold sat out at night! )

I would definately not take as many clothes next time though. Saying that, we did use most of the other stuff so still think a roof box in order. A friend of mine has one she doesn't use and has said that we could borrow that if we like, which will help with Oh's despair at money spent so far!!!!!!!!

Natural progression and addiction to camping equipment will take over and from a roofbox to a trailer will be next

If you are looking for a practicle roof box that you then can collapse up at home or on the campsite to save fuel when sight seeing the Thule Ranger is brilliant

for more space with clothing and bedding we use those space saving bags you suck the air out of them with the hoover when you go and do the same with your airbed pump on the way back the airbed pump i bought was £2-99 from asda amazing how much space you save with them
