Im a tad confused here, you say its a BL6 you have ? and I take it that you used the Deltas on the main storm guys ? as you cant use Deltas on the rear tension straps at the base of the canvas so I take it you had V or standard pegs in these ? With the BL pitched fully with the horizontal bracing bars down each side and the poles and tension straps all pegged out a BL will stand alone without guys except the canopy ????? Once the bracing bars are extended and locked in place it is impossible for the tent to collapse even if the rear guys are removed !! Now don't get me wrong and like everyone else has said I feel sorry that someone has stooped so low as to steal your Deltas but somehow this story just doesn't add up in my books.
I'm reading the thread and thinking Mmmmmmmmm as well!!
My first thought was 'well, how would it collapse like that'
I've had the SV8 up not guyed at all (in the garden to air off) and even in a slight breeze it stood upright - the BL4 similarly (though I did delta the guys down as we were working on it and it was pitched for a while)

Just had a chance to read posts from ADL, Val B, Dedley etc. Do you know, you guys are so right! Bearing in mind the state of my good lady at the time I never even thought about that. We had about 10 people stood around offering their help.
When I got back to the tent I simply pulled the hoops back up and guyed them. I never even thought about checking the horizontal poles.
So your horizontal poles were pinched too?

But if they were attempting to steal the tent, why would they not empty it first?
who would try to steal a tent that was full of equipment , beds and bedding , stove , kitchen stand etc , without removing them first , it just doesnt make sense.
if they collapsed the tent , on top of all the stuff , how on earth could they then move it with all the stuff inside.
a BL is not something that will roll up easily anyawy , you'd need a fair amount of time to do it, or a big van to just chuck the lot into unfolded, but you'd still have to remove the poles as well.
10 people offering to help after the event, but nobody saw the pegs being removed .
Just weird ?

I think we all need to get a grip here and step back and look at the situation and not get hung up with worry about the apparent insecurity of campsites.
How many of us have actually had anything stolen or know anyone who has ? Ok I am sure there will be a small handful of people who sadly have had things stolen but that percentage I am sure will be very very low in comparison.
Lets not all start worrying about the safety of our kit and lets keep the faith in other campers to continue to look out for each other and to maintain what we have out there, a way that we can all escape life's stresses, a place where we can all trust each other and not have to worry.
God forbid the day that campsites are patrolled by security staff as a result of unnecessary panic. Lets not get caught up in overkill of the situation like we do with health and safety issues and the EU laws that govern us all to death.
Keep it real and lets all continue to enjoy our pastime without the fear of apparent tent thieves.
