Hello!!

We love camping and are looking forward to taking our new dog with use this year. We were looking at getting her a 'mini tent' to go in ours to use for her bed. Just something covered which we can easily move outside in the day and inside at night. Can anyone suggest anything?? We have seen to fold down pet carrier things but as our girl is a greyhound one in her size is about £80 which is waaaay too expensive.

Thanks xx

How about one of these http://www.mothercare.com/Samsonite-Pop-Travel-Bubble-Cot/dp/B003AXANEM/sr=1-11/qid=1274215564/ref=sr_1_11/277-8185123-9517448?_encoding=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=44360031&mcb=core ?  You can get them cheaper elsewhere, I expect wilkinsons or something do them for a better price.

I have a crate for my dog, a Springer Spaniel, which is probably the fold down pet carrier thing you mention. It's like a cage. You can get soft one's too but sometimes dogs can chew on the mesh panels or sticky out seams etc..... I know my dog would!

I put a blanket over my dogs crate and if it's windy outside I use clothes pegs to keep it on.

I know they're expensive, especially for the larger sizes, although you might be able to get a used one on the classifieds. I wouldn't be without mine now.

If you don't mean a cage , but just somewhere for her to lie and have her own space ,get a cheap pop up tent , if she's not a chewer.
We used to have greyhounds and they were just content to stretch out and snooze all day after their walks, and never had any problems with them chewing in their kennels.

like this
although I have read that this type could do with a tarp cut to size underneath it for the base to be fully waterproof.

Our dogs have always slept in the tent with us, with a long lead attached so that they cannot escape during the night.

I'm thinking of getting a cheap beach shelter just to get more shade for my dog during the day outside....I know that's not much good inside.

I've been looking at the UV one's you get for kiddies, I think it would make a good windshield too if it was placed right.

We got one from Lidl for a few quid, put it up in the livingroom for Mystie to have a look at & had to leave it for 2 days as she wouldnt come out.

As for sleeping , she has more bedding than us, we stuff all the bags off tables etc in to a large barrel bag & use that as a bumper to stop her leaning against the tent wall & getting cold & at night if needed we throw an old cheap sleeping bag over her where she stays quite happily all night.

Like so.

Taken with my phone so sorry about the greasy thumb print but you get the idea.

We're going to get one too. We've tried a tarp, but the beasts always get their leads tangled in the guys. It's the way they pay us back for tying them up, I reckon.

We have one of the fabric kennels for our pooch, it folds flat and is handy if we want to pop out for an hour without her. It cost about £15 secondhand off ebay, but was like new so it's worth looking around you might pick up a bargain somewhere.

It does take up a lot of space though and I wouldn't like to keep it in the main body of the tent all the time - say when it's raining, and of course it's not waterproof so you have to be certain we're not in for a downpour when leaving it out lol.
