Going away this week-end for the first time, got a Nevada M and also got the footprint as well as all the other stuff, the question is do we peg all the way round footprint then put tent on top or do we line up the loops from both and peg it together with the one peg, if you get my drift. Would appreciate your advice.

Thanks.

put the footprint down first, check the positioning (look for lumps and bumps), then put the tent on top, ensuring the foot print is not sticking out, you can reuse the pegs as you go if you like, or not.

Yes, the car is bigger than the 'van.

Your footprint will be slightly smaller than the base of your tent so as poppy.dog has said you peg this down first as it wont reach out as far as your tents pegging points.

You can use normal pegs on the footprint but just make sure they are driven in to ground level so as not to rub on the tent floor or alternativly get some mushroom headed ground sheet pegs for the footprint like these: http://www.millets.co.uk/product/095725.html

A footprint must be under the base of the tent because if it sticks out and it rains then rain water will collect between the base of the tent and the footprint so make sure you position the tent correctly on the footprint.

As said, the Nevada M and the extension are a doddle to pitch.

If your a first timer then your main concern is probably the pole bending, which you master soon enough.

You probably have seen this, but here is the link to the official pitching video. It's pretty accurate until it gets to the folding up and putting back in the bag - by the magic of editing the tent miraculously loses all trapped air in an instant and therefore folds really easy from that point on

To bee fair though, it folds up (just like they do it in the video) and goes back in the bag with loads of room to spare.
