Just having bought an elec hook up what's the best way for lighting, is there anything we can get for a single light hanging in the tent or are there better suggestions?

Hi. We use the home made one described first above. We have a bulb holder with a switch but not yet got round to a lampshade. make sure you use low wattage bulbs not just because they save electricity but are also a lot cooler so far less likely to damage the tent. We also have a cheap little table lamp - strangely enough on a table - for subdued light and small lamps in the bedrooms.

We bought a cheap inspection lamp from Netto when we had the tent.  We now use it in the awning.

We've got something similar to this. We originally bought it to use in the loft but now use it for camping as well. It might work out just as cheap to get something like that rather than faffing on buying all the bit and pieces.

I have the one keely posted a pic of too , they are £2.50 in wilkinsons , probably cheaper than making your own.

Its a bulb holder on a plastic bulldog type clip, that also has a hole in so you can thread a string to hang it by, if you have nothing to clip it onto.

takes the standard bayonet fitting bulbs or low energy bulbs, which is what I use in ours
very lightweight and small to pack, I keep the box the bulb came in to pack it up afterwards, and am still using the same bulb after 3 years.

Wifey has gone lights crazy and we tend to use low voltage fairy lights. We always use the after christmas sales to pick up some bargains. It gives off a lovely light at night.......
