With four children a long lie is a thing of the past...well they did actually sleep til almost 9am this morning which is unheard of but made me very pleased indeed.  Only trouble is I then couldn't get into the "swing" of things and they day has been a bit of a muddle.  Oh well, that's what school hols are for

I sleep like a baby when camping, does not matter how late I go to bed I wake about 6am, and love it, sitting off with a cup of coffee watching the sun rise and the world wake up, and I could not go back to bed anyway, cos our two setters dive into my space as soon as I move

I love to get up and make my coffee as early as poss. The kids and OH don't stir until about 10ish. Those early hours on my own are so precious We also go camping as a form of relaxation rather than any major exploration trip and so that's why I feel I can do what the hell I like (within reason). So, when everyone else is rushing around in the afternoon I have my siesta - best of both worlds, I'd say. That's why I love camping - the freedom to do what you like.

I would like to lie in when camping but for those darling (grrrrrrr) little birds.  I swear they line up just outside the tent about where my head is located, one of them gives the nod at 5.47am and away they go tweet, tweet, tweeting.  Quite obviously a few of them have loud hailers and on the last trip one of them thought it was funny to mimic a mobile phone.  Don't ya just love nature!

Since I started using earplugs camping has become much more bearable.

I like to wake up in my own time, sometimes that is 6.30... in which case I get up, have a shower, read a book or sometimes its 10am...

I have kids, but we have a very strict "no noise before 8am" rule with them, I wish other people did!

First night I am always cold, can't get comfy and can't sleep. Second night onwards I am warm and comfy and drop off easily enough but always always wake with the dawn chorus, so this week was between 4 and 4:30am every single morning, bursting for a wee, so having to unzip the sleeping bag and bedroom, zip the bedroom back up, unzip the inner door, zip it back up again, unzip the outer door, zip it back up again, trek to the toilet, however far that may be, do the needful then trek back again - by the time I'm securely back in my sleeping bag I've done 14 zips and am wide awake. I tend to sleep fitfully until about 7:30 then, until the sunshine starts to heat the tend up to oven temps and I have to burst out of there with the urgency of a woman on fire.

God I love camping

Couple of morning this week, I got my wish, and sat outside reading, in the warm morning sunshine, with my cuppa,    Once it was from 6.  Lovely just me and the dog, who sat there and smelled the smells and sniffed the sits, and snoozed as I read - rapture.    The only problem is that after about an hour, Comet will decided that it is time for Richard to be up as well, and will go and wake him up.
Mind you this morning, although I was up, reading was not so easy, as Comet decided that he wanted to sit on my knee, and be a lap dog.  Only problem is that he is a bit big, and weighs around 5st.

I routinely use ear plugs, even at home. It makes a huge difference. I use a sleep mask when camping too, as the light wakes me early.

Glad to hear you manage to keepp the littl'uns quiet until a reasoanble time!

i tend to lie-in most mornings, so when i am camping, i make a point of getting up first!!! i love it and cant wait for the rest of them to get up.. i get my own cafetiere full of coffee, but have an urgency to get the bacon on!!!
DS (14yrs) tends to get 'shaken' out of his pop up tent (by unpegging one end and lifting!) at about 1.30pm when we have had enough of waiting for him to emerge and need to go out and do something!!!
late afternoon is when i am up for a siesta!!! nice hours sleep on my own is blissful!!!
oooh , i cant wait to go again!!!

Im usually first up when camping, last weekend I woke at 4am and just went a walk to the toilet block. Im glad I did because the sky looked amazing. Loads of stars and just really nice. Its funny but our 3 kids have long lie's when camping, and rise early at home.
