Came home from work the other night to find that my OH has sold our Outwell Colorado 5 and sun canopy on e-bay (bought it last year), we've sold our Vango Venture 500 and next week our Khyam tunnel tent is being advertised (used twice) - so why do I feel bereaved????? especially now we've joined the Monty 6 club  and still have the Coleman Darwin 7 & Outwell Virginia 5 ????

Perhaps I need to attend a Campers Counsellor

Every tent we own is our friend, so you will feel bereaved at first.  But we wouldn't ask our friends to live in dark cupboards and lofts and never come out to play.  Tents need to be used.

Let go by imagining your much-loved and passed-on tents having a new life, each with a family who will take them out and use them and give them a happy time.  And you'll have some extra funds to enhance your kit for the Monty, the Darwin and the Virginia. Win/win!

Tents need to be used. There is no point in having lots of them if they will just gather dust and their new owner will have great pleasure in being able to use them. I fully understand though tents become like a pair of comfortable slippers that you grow to love and hate to part with

I'm feeling sad too, as i'm begining to realise that out rotonde, just takes up too much room in our car and perhaps we should move to a polycotton outwell instead...

You've sold the tents, but not the memories!

Snap! I'm still grieving for my lovely Cabanon Scenario  even though I've got a great Coleman Evolva instead.

Know what you mean... i sold my Vango diablo 900 last year when we got the Bear Lake 6 but miss it so much... Have just seen Diablo 400 at JR leisure in Wigan for £150 and am so tempted (as a little weekend tent) How can I justify it though?

Hello, on a slightly different note, i had my vango venture stolen by a so called friend, who took it home to dry it for me and refused to return it. I still grieve about that tent, it was perfect for weekends and though i love my Monty 4, Aspen 500 and ontario 8, nothing is quite the same as my stolen venture.

That's harsh, fairybelle. I guess you're feeling as bad about the betrayal as the tent.

I still have my first 'grown-up' tent in the loft, a jolly little purple and yellow job. Subtle, not! The little elastic loops perished. Really should get it out and see if anything can be done.  If not, then I'll remember it fondly but not regret its loss. My second 'grown-up' tent (sort of blue and burgundy, rather odd scheme) is clinging to life and has been more recently used by daughter and partner to use in places e.g. festivals where if something awful happens to it, that's not a problem! It owes us nothing, has been well used. Can't remember the makes of either of them. My present tent (a much more subtle number in light green) is doing me proud, and has a good few years in it yet.

I do have a simple Sunncamp 6 berth lurking, that I bought as an end-of-season bargain in case I had to put people up in the garden. Excellent headroom, back door etc but not really feasible to put up alone unless in a dead calm!

Always edited for sloppy typing - when I spot it!
