Well we are back from cornwall and all in one piece!
When we got to the campsite after 6 hours of driving we were slightly dreading putting up the tent for the first time as we had a dome tent (Hartford L) before but we shouldn't have worried! The Sun Valley went up like a dream and thats saying something as we are by no means experienced campers having only been once before and the wind was blowing a gale, it was ripping awings off caravans around us but we got it up no probs. Inside was great, espesh with the kids room and the extra bedroom for storage.
There were a few downers, charlie came down with a BAD dose of chicken pox as soon as we landed really, but he was fine in himself and we went round the site asking people if they minded but all the kids on our field had had it, there were no preganant ladies and a call to NHS direct confirmed that he wouldnt be infectious 2 days after the spots showed, so we kept him close to the tent for the first few days and just did a lot of driving round looking at scenery.
The boys did not cope well with their airbeds at all. They found sleeping really hard and I couldnt seem to get their clothes right, one night they were too hot, then too cold, and for the first 4 nights they were up til 3am and then awake again every hour til 8am so we were shattered!
However, despite all this and the boys being pathologcically scared of the beach and the sea (!!!??!!) we had a great holiday, I felt that we managed camping much better with the EHU and we had the extension and a gaxebo up with windbreaks all round to fence to the boys in for meal times.
Suffice it to say this might have been enough to switch us off to camping but we are deciding where to go in August already so does this mean we are officially hardened campers now!!?
------------- Let's get out there!
