I always freeze my milk at home, buy 4 2l plastic containers from the supermarket as a lot cheaper, and defrost as required, we use semi skimmed, just need a good shake when defrosted, never had any splits or problems in 15 years!
Yes, he's wrong - I freeze all my milk - straight from the supermarket into the freezer - no preparation or anything. Out the evening before I need it then a good shake and it's ready to go. great for camping - I put a couple of frozen containers in the coolbox and they keep everything cold for ages.

I think your dh has his facts a little mixed up. You can't freeze milk that the milkman leaves for you on your doorstep in glass bottles as the glass can't expand so will break And force the top off lol. On the odd time i've frozen plastic bottles of milk i've had no problem but did on the one time i decided to freeze the milk in a glass bottle lol
Hi Wolla,
I see you are going to Yedmandale near Scarborough. It's brilliant. I go there lots. Planning another trip before the school . Ken is great and will do anything to help.It can get busy and you can't really walk down to the village of West Ayrton as it's a long, long way back!
having said that you may be regulars there anyway.
enjoy
Just to add to what's been said, yes milk can be frozen in the plastic bottles, but be careful to leave enough space around them for expansion, otherwise they may get stuck!
Fortunately the kids love icy slushy milk on their cereal. Unfortunately they demand it more than it's available :(
