may be i am being silly but dont see what all the fuss about bell tents is,imagine a field full of them,it would look like a scene from zulu[ please dont hate me bell tent owners ]

we nearly got a Bell tent and it was for the 'feel' they gave to camping as an experience. Soft off white cotton, circular space - it is all very organic and human. Fibreglass, synthetic fabrics, synthetic colours, synthetic carpets are just so different. Other people like them becuase they are just different, thats why you dont see that many on sites (not the sites we go to anyhow)

in the end we decided we loved cotton and single pole but went Retro with a Pyramid instead - maybe cos we grew up in the 70's not the 60's

I think most modern tents look like landed space ships!  (Bell tents just look like slightly nicer landed space ships - in my humble opinion of course!!!!!!!)

I hadn't been camping since i was about 10yrs old (almost 40 now!) & to be honest it didn't appeal to me at all.  My childhood memories of camping were being cramped up in a little, claustraphobic inner tent.  Last year i went to the Greenman festival in Brecon & stayed in my friend bell tent & it totally changed my view, the space, the height, the lovely canvas, none of that rustley nylon with condensation in the mornings....the ease of putting them up & down.  Ok they are a little on the heavy side but worth it

Now i have a 4mtr & a 3mtr bell tent & i'm loving camping under canvas.  I think the emperor looks great but would have to wait a few years before my OH will let me buy any more tents!

They really are a tent you either like or don't. I really can't see the appeal as they look like they haven't been pegged out properly, Also, no bedrooms? How would you have tent olympics?

A tent is like a newborn born baby..... to some they all look the same..... but if its yours it's beautiful.
