Advice:  Be comfortable but don't feel you have to recreate home comforts.

Kit: a nice big mug for a hot cuppa - double skin titanium if you want to be extra.

Advice: never part with your cash until you've seen it erect......... tents are never like you imagine them from the diagrams and pictures

Kit: headlamp...... you will inevitably need to to do something fiddly in the dark

For a 'Novice' unsure if 'Tenting' is for them?

Advice:- A '4 Person Tent' = 2 adults with space for kit.
(I bought a Tesco 4 Person Dome initially. For a 2 adult 'Fair Weather' Starter Tent it works)

Kit:- I use the 'KISS' principle. KEEP IT SIMPLE

I'll let you work out the last 'S' word.

Advice.  Never allow yourself to get cold, when you start feeling the cold wrap up, hats, gloves, extra layers, etc.

Kit. A quality Sleeping bag (envelope is my preferred style).

smaller tents are warmer more wind stable and easer to pitch dry .etc

Air beds are no good bye an insolation mat even if you have an air bed so your not on the cold floor when it goes down lol

Kit - Somewhere safe to cook in bad weather. Being cold is no fun but being cold and only having cold food to eat is sheer misery, in fact it should be illegal

Advice - always prepare for the worst weather, anything else is then a bonus.

Kit - I'd say a list is essential! I keep mine on the laptop and update all the time, then print it off and tick off when packing.

kit: My favourite bit of kit is our Coleman 424. I feel like a steam train driver with all the pumping, priming, hissing and flames!
