Maybe it's me, but does anyone else find the ridges on a blow up bed annoying? I have tried letting some air out but they still bug me, I have put a thick fleece blanket on top but I can still feel them and hence they still bug me! I like having an air bed, so maybe I have to put up with it but was wondring if anyone elso had found the same and had a magic solution?  'The Princess and the Pea' springs to mind!!

I have been recommended an Intex airbed, so am investigating now, current airbed punctured.  Would like to get something comfy that lasts, don't mind paying a bit more if it does the job.

Happy camping

That's what I have just bought - the Queen Size two in one. It still has the ridges like our old one. Really like it though - nice to be so high off the floor.I know I am just being fussy!!

I have bumps and ridges in my bed at home - doesn't matter what I sleep on I feel everything and it irritates the hell out of me.

So I bought this from Ikkkeyah... (that's what the kids call it!)  I don't feel anything at all now and sleep really well.  When I bought it it was rolled up quite small, and that was a double, so not sure how much space you have, but they are highly recommended!

Self Inflating Mats - no lumps, bups, ridges, no cold air under you when you are trying to sleep, no high cold air beds to fall off in the night, just a very comfy warm nights sleep.

I used to have a terrible time sleeping on airbeds - the ridges were really uncomfortable, and then I tried one which had rectangles instead of long ridges and that was also horrid. Finally I tried a Coleman comfort, which is pretty much like a normal mattress, just some slight indentations where the coils are, which are similar to what you would have on a proper mattress. I got a large single (wider than a normal single airbed - it's the same width as a normal single bed) and I swear it is comfier than my actual bed! A real revelation!

If you can feel the ridges then it is blown up too hard and you will probably roll off it during the night.

A reeded airbed should be inflated so that your hips are just about touching the ground.

I find a few glasses of red does the trick....don't feel the ridges, cold air, the floor (if I get the tesco air bed instead of the aerobed or colman one)DH taking ALL the room and snoring.....ah yes...vino does the job!!

It always rains on tents. Rainstorms will travel thousands of miles, against prevailing winds for the opportunity to rain on a tent.

That's probably closer to the real Swedish pronunciation than most of us use.

Oh thank God I'm not the only one. Hubby keeps mentioning the princess & the pea   I bought a memory foam topper for our bed at home, but I still feel lumps & bumps. A tiny crease in the sheet feels like I'm lying on a pencil. My heels are permanently red & sore from resting them on the mattress. And yes, my sensitivity irritates the hell out of me too.

So it's not just me then! Think hubby may object if I ask him to tie our pocket sprung mattress to the roof of the car ... actually, last year we really did see someone arrive on site with their usual bed mattress on their roof rack!

We have a Decathlon one (its DD's, but I have slept on it), that doesn't have ridges and I found it really very comfortable. I don't know how hardwearing they are long term, but she's had it a couple of years without problems.
