Thanks for all the posts! Found the Yanks rec white vinegar for skunk spraying so doused it in a large bottle of and sponged into the material to make sure (as it was just running off) left it to dry for a few hours then hosed it down for 10 mins and when dry the smell was exactly the same with a faint hint of vinegar! Yanks and Go Outdoors rec putting it in the washer - it is / WAS a pop up so removed all the bendy poles shoved it into the washer 30 degree silk wash! and hey presto out came a soapy soppy tent ... needless to say it hadn't rinsed properly even in my 9kg drum ... tried to put the bendy poles in only for the main one to splinter and snap!!! Ahhhh have a soapy soppy tent with a hint of Persil and Fox P****! Will ring outwell and see what they say re new poles but think it was all over on the first night when Fantastic Mr Fox said Hello and Goodbye to our new tent

Belive it or not the ketchup idea does work i come from a family that are mad on the dog world. i have a sister as a groomer and my mum is a obediance /problem trainner and they both swear by putting tomtoe sauce on fox poo and wee covered dogs, so it must be worth a try on the tent ...
But if has been left to soak in and to pass through the rest of the tent then i dont reckon anything will shift the smell ..I use to go to a lot off festivals and nothing i tried ever managed to get rid of the bonfire small even leaving the tent out for a month didnt seem to shift it..
I thought of Febreeze as soon as I read this. The reason being that I used it once on a work uniform t-shirt (not exactly a tent I know!)after wearing it during a hot summer day. I didnt have a clean one for the day after so I took the Febreeze to the armpits (sorry for offending anyone with this information!) and gave it a good spray and the next morning it smelt really fresh again and as if it hadnt even been sweaty the day before. I was amazed at how it worked. Anyway, back to the tent, I just thought maybe that if you were to use that on your tent it may neutralise it.
PS We have showered our dog at a standpipe before now on the campsite. We didnt use one that supplies the clean drinking water, theres normally one around near the dustbins or something for dirty things which we used to our advantage. A pleasant clean dog makes for a better trip!
Id be tempted to Bin it!
It might have been worth saving before but now that there are also broken poles to contend with......
Still interesting to hear solutions to the smell situation though..I remember when our elderly Gordon Setter had a weak bladder we used an enzyme based spray (sorry i cant remember the name but ask in your local pet shop they will know!)
This will definately work if you decide to keep the tent...good luck!

Some years ago I spent a really wet week in Dorset sharing a small tent with my late lamented golden retriever whose idea of fun was to go in the sea, roll in the mud and any kind of poo available. I'd wake up in the morning with the dog sharing my blanket snuggled up against me.
I had no means of washing the dog properly and was too inhibited to take it in the shower with me which is what I'd do nowadays.
Hi Bev: Hannah did well on her DofE btw.
Take care

Would you really take your dog in the showers?! I love my dog dearly but I would never do that at a campsite, I'd put him in the bath or shower at home, but surely not at a campsite!
Yes I would and what's more I'd leave the shower spotlessly clean which is more than a lot of people without dogs bother to do but then I prefer basic camp sites and the showers at the one of which I was thinking are in what's little more than a shed.
Another good reason to wear flip flops in showers. I wash the dog in my bath at home but then I thoroughly disinfect the bath. I doubt campsite showers get much disinfecting...a sloosh round with a dirty mop is probably the best they get.
