As you can see, have a slight problem. My better half drives the car, I drive her mad, and a K75 BMW. Need advice on what is the best tent, to use on the Baby Beemer. We used to do this many moons ago (23 years) and slightly older lol, sleeping bag and beer no longer, work. Not second child hood still not finished first yet. Nevada m is great for VWs, bought this two, months ago, slight problem, with wind, at Reighton sands, .not the mushy pea variety. broke two poles out of three. But it just seems to me that, the bike would be better. if the other half can get ehu, air beds, kitchen sink etc on it. Better stop now she  is reading this over my shoulder.

Hi Vince, pack size and weight are the main issues. I'm still trying to find the ideal tent myself.

The Khyam Biker is a good start, easy to pitch, fairly manageable pack size and plenty of room for a double air bed and two sets of leathers in the inner. The porch is a reasonable size, but doesn't have a SIG....has to be a compromise somewhere.

After tiring of crawling in and out and coping with the condensation of a small polyester tent, I went canvas with a Hypercamp Djakarta from Obelink. Ticked all the boxes with material, height and room etc, but it's a big beastie to strap to a bike. I only take that when I can share the load with the missus on her bike. So still not ideal.

She loves her Sunncamp Evo 300 though. Polyester with SIG, large porch and good head height for it's size. Definitely worth a look at.

In an ideal world, I'd have a polycotton or canvas tent, with SIG and standing height for a 6' bloke, but be low weight and small pack size. Asking the impossible really, or so it seems. I can't find anything to suit me

But...I've come across a polycotton tent and I've been humming and hahhing for a couple of months over it. Looks really promising, but the compromise is in the head height. It's polycotton, so a lot less condensation, has a SIG, smallish weight and pack size and it's 99 euros. I'm still trying to decide whether I need another tent, but if so, this will be the one. It's the London 3 from Obelink.

The problem is trying to fit a quart in to a pint pot. I'd opt for the comfort AND the fun. Take the car loaded to the gunnels with the Nevada M and all the home comforts, and the bike. Then use the bike when you're there. That London 3 looks good though for a polycotton.

Hi guys, thanks for the responses. Carol likes the London 3. Grandaughter (7) thinks side car is a good idea, women. no matter what age like to spend our brass. Car idea is good. but trying to leave grandaughter at home occasionally. Really fancy just using the bike, not done this for many moons. Fairly new to this site, it's realy good people can still take the time to help each other,

Wish I could find a piccy of my Outbound Oberon 3, a 3 man tunnel tent from about 20 years ago. It's the smaller blue bag on the back in this :-

It is similar to the Vango Omega 3 :-

I'd have that on my back rack and the rest in a stuff sack on the pillion seat if I was solo, otherwise it was duvet, cookset and food in one pannier, double airbed, pump and clothes in the other. Any extras the OH wanted would go in her backpack.

Thanks Shaggy DA, for the ideas. Carol is now comparing prices on tent's, she has a new saying, a tent for every occasion, and an occasion for every tent.

Hehe aye, I know that feeling. After posting that link, I finally decided I was going to get the London 3...

It's now ordered, 99 euros for tent and 12 euros P&P, so hopefully pics and first impressions to come next weekend

Not had much time to give it a good look over yet, so I'm sure a review will be forthcoming at a later date. First impressions are really good though...

Sharkey, nice tent have you got a thing for the Dutch, or is it just the tent's. Did you do the 360 deegrees tour, (better than Diana Ross). on tent tent, Carol wondered if they did bed and breakfast. Methinks she is planning a holiday. Lord help the bank.

May the sun always shine on your tent.

Hehe thanks Vince, it's definitely a tent thing, and all thanks to the lovely peeps on here posting links and pictures for all sorts of exotic tentage...Damn them, damn them all...my bank account is sulking now  lol

Hehe the reality of it is, there are very few canvas tents available in the UK, and even less options if you want a bike sized one. I'm sick of polyester, and until I came upon the Obelink site mentioned on this site, I was at a loss for what to do about it. Canvas and polycottons are the way ahead for me, and I now have the 3 sizes I need.

Good luck with your forthcoming holiday and the friendly interview with the gestap...erm bank manager I mean  lol

Hi sharkey, Carol has sold the nevada, and is now looking at the eldorado, fabled city of gold, the way she is going on about tent's I could do to find it. She is threating to go and buy one on line. Kyntyre was ok, but Carol on about the London, if they do a two for one on the ferry, she be taking me to buy in person.  Mind you the size of the place, we would have to go camping, for her to make my mind up. Did you have any problems, with tent tent, when you ordered.

I've been after a little tent to strap to the back of my bike as well, this may be just the ticket!

I'm very jealous of you two wheel campers. Best we'll be able to do is take the car as well then use the scoot for running around. That said, I can't do hands and knees camping anymore so maybe it's the best solution for us. Enjoy.

Hi Vince, you're very welcome, and nope, no problems with them at all. Have used them before and everything was a breeze. Choose, click, pay then wait for the delivery man. They e-mail a DPD tracking number,  but it in my case it was delivered before I had a chance to check on the DPD site

Hi Bloodstone, just a quick note, I haven't used the tent yet, just had a once-over test pitch in the garden. It's not quite what I expected though, hence no review yet until I actually try it out on the bike and on site. It states a SIG, which it is, but it's not a completely sealed groundsheet on the base of the whole tent, just on the porch section and it velcros to the inner once erected. I wanted to see how the tent is in use before submitting any review. I took it for granted it would be a completely sealed SIG and not a partial. I'm a bit disappointed, but heyho, one of those things innit...

I will have a review up at some point, depending on the weather in the next month or so. But from first impressions I'd give it an 8 out of 10, after knocking a point off for the partial SIG
