Well, the long awaited week at Cote Ghyll has come to an end - got back home late this afternoon.

We had drizzle, torrential rain, thunder, wind and some sunshine (but not nearly enough!!) so the Aruba was well tested. Site was wonderfully quiet through the week but last night was a nightmare - so busy - noisy and full of inconsiderate campers! And to end the week, I twisted my back yesterday and have been in agony ever since - not good for striking camp

But we are home, everything is unpacked and just need to air the canvas tomorrow before packing away properly till our next family camp (probably next year!!).

The Aruba was fantastic although the quality of Cabanon tents seem to have gone down a little - but the fitted carpets were fab!!

Will post some pics in the 'Show us your tent' thread.

I know how you feel, well sort of. I've twisted my ankle today and I've got another week of camping to go, and we've got another campsite to go to so I've got to take the tent down, and put it up again with a sore ankle. Not looking forward to it.

Sorry the weather wasn't better and that you've hurt your back - hope it feels better soon.

Cote Ghyll is one of our favourite sites - hope the inconsiderate campers have gone before our next visit!!

I've been to 4 different sites over here now, & so far the only inconsiderate campers were some German "tin-tenters" at a municipal, although they shut up at midnight. It's funny, I was asleep one afternoon, in my tent, & I think (can't be certain) I was shouting at them to shut-up in my sleep! Whatever happened, they were a bit quieter the next night!
Glad you enjoyed yourself anyway, hope your back's better soon.

Yes, I've read about inconsiderate campers but haven't come across any till this last weekend! drinking, shouting and kids yelling right next to us until 3am! Glad we were leaving the next day - I did mention it cos fellow campers all around were grumbling!

I can only sit for a few minutes at a stretch so only popping on & off here intermittently - sitting is agony!! Have tried dosing up with Ibuprofen, heat packs on my back, sitting/.lying/standing in every concivable position and still in agony! Any suggestions???

The canvas is in a heap in the conservatory and will have to stay there till my back eases up a bit!

But we had a great time and am hoping to do a solo camp next time with my new (to me) Calvi.

Hope your back's better soon .

I rang Cote Ghyll last night , fancied a night next week ; just me and the dog .

We've been a few times before . But I don't fancy paying the £18.50 for one night in my little 2 man tent , so back to searching for another site

Yes, I thought it was expensive but it was in the right area (my family live in Co Durham) so great for visiting. And the facilities sounded good too but the pitches weren't very level. I definitely wouldn't want to pay that much for a one night solo camp!

I hope the inconsiderate campers were only there for the weekend. We are going to Cote Ghyll tomorrow for a week. At £25 a night I don't fancy being kept awake til 3am by kids yelling and shouting.

Hope that uou're soon better, but why put the tent away until next year, there are more and more people going to try winter camping, come on you've still got August September, and October before we might see any snow.

Go on, you know you want to
